I am actually a little reluctant to write a review on Ellis Beach Oceanfront Bungalows as this place is THAT GOOD I don't want anyone else knowing about it and making it so popular we'd never get back here. We had a bungalow about 20 feet, or less at high tide, from the ocean. This is literally step off the front deck into the sand. My wife and I just spent 8 days here and we had to pinch ourselves nearly every day as we couldn't believe how good it was. To sit out on the deck every morning and watch the sun rise over the Coral Sea, to sit here every evening and gaze at the ocean with a cold beer or a chilled glass of wine, to hear the roll of the waves onto the beach every night as you fall sleep, this place is a dream come true. There is nothing at Ellis Beach except these Oceanfront Bungalows, the Bar and Grill across the road (which is more like a roadhouse cafe) and the surf club. The nearest town or village is 10 minutes drive south, Palm Cove, back towards Cairns. And that's how we liked it. The bungalows (we were in #20 "Coral Sea") and its very well appointed. Modern furnishings and very clean. Flat screen TV, DVD player etc, all here. The website pics do not do this place justice. It's much much better. Nice lounge/dining, separate bedroom with ensuite and separate toilet, well appointed kitchen, and that front deck overlooking the beach.
We met our next door neighbours, a couple from Vienna, Austria who were on their 5th holiday to Ellis Beach. And that's after enduring 40 hours of travelling to get there. And it was this couple that coined the phrase, "paradise on Earth". The pool is very nice, as are the BBQs and the beach is spectacular. We are already planning our next holiday back there.
