Stayed here one night for a business meeting nearby. I arrived early at noon, the luggage/bell manager was fantastic, and check in was very smooth. I didn't have to wait in line at all. They found me a room on the 26 floor facing the Ereka tower. The room was very nice, modern and simple. The view was stunning. The bed was very comfortable. I would have liked a bathtub in room. The shower was a bit weak. The pool and the exercise facilities were really nice. Very relaxing. Recommended to stay here just to swim / relax by the pool. Went to Level 28 at night, not very busy, ok environment.

Overall, I would come back and stay at this hotel. Nice rooms and great facilities. Close to the casino and shopping.

Room tip: Ask for a high floor

Stayed for just one night midweek but could easily have stayed longer. Conveniently located close to convention centre, DFO, south bank and casino as well as the tram lines. The walkway to the casino via shops and eateries means you could easily stay and never have to leave the precinct! Bed was comfortable, rooms very large, bathroom decent sized but poor lighting. I probably wouldn't choose one of their rooms if I was sharing with a friend, not enough privacy for my liking. The view from my room was of the carpark so not enticing at all. Apparently the pool is something else but unfortunately didn't have time to check it out. The only downside to my stay was I was woken at 4.30am by rude people walking to their rooms and having a conversation whilst walking through the corridors. Otherwise, there was no other noise. Having stayed at the Park Hyatt for most of my business trips, depending on my required location, I would stay at the Metropol again for conferences but back to the Park Hyatt for the rest of my trips since I prefer the much better choice of restaurants near the Park Hyatt. Also, our cheap corporate rates mean we pay the same decent rate for both hotels.

Well, here's a nice surprise. Just when I was beginning to think that the 21st Century had made the experience of staying in hotels just one big impersonal event, along comes this gem.
From the moment we were greeting by the valet parking personnel and later by the efficient and HAPPY check-in staff, it was very evident that this was no run of the mill hotel. A request for a city view delivered just that, and without the sighs and raised eyebrows that sometimes occur at other establishments. The room was more than expected; extremely comfortable beds, all the "bells and whistles" that hotel TV sets deliver these days, a very well appointed bathroom with a decent stream of water from the shower head, prompt and courteous room service. All this, coupled with a reasonable tariff made this a stay to remember... for all the right reasons. We will definitely be back.

Room tip: Higher floors on the north east corner [ Queensberry Street] have the best city views.

We stayed one night in this hotel and it was very beautiful! Our room had an incredible view. Breakfast was very good. The only thing I didn't like was that, at that price, wifi should be included. Minimum 24 AUD for 24 hours. What if I had to check an email for one minute? Come on, in 2012, wifi is a must.

We actually cancelled a 2nd night at another hotel due to noise keeping toddler and as a result us awake all night. We were immediately impressed by the size and design of the suite. The king size bed was divine. The finishing touches, tones and decor is really tasteful....Contemporary with warmth.
The swimming pool was amazing. We would return just for the pool. The views from the room and pool were spectacular. I'd love to know who provides the toiletries they were such a fresh and lovely fragrance.
Overall it was an excellent overnight stay and worth every cent. The staff were attentive and the best we've experienced from all 5 star hotels in Melb and we've stayed at most.
