I took my mum to melbourne as neither of us had been. We enjoyed our stay at the Crown Metropol very much, and would have no issue recommending it to others. The hotel is lush, with super-modern decor and all the amenities youd expect. Conceirge was more than happy to hold our bags as we arrived a few hours prior to check in, then they smsed us once the room was ready (4 hours before official check-in time!!!) and the bags were waiting in our room for us when we got there! The luxe twin room was a more than ample size for 2, we were on the 19th floor and the view from the entire wall of glass was actually pretty nice, despite being lots of concrete mainly. We didnt get room service cause it was too expensive. The minibar was small and completely full of stuff they want you to buy, which we didnt want, so I left a note to the staff and the next day it had been completely emptied so we could use the fridge for our own stuff, which was great! Beds were super comfy, aircon control was handy, and the robes made you feel like a big grizzly bear :) I didnt like the pillows though. The infinity pool was amazing looking and also had an amazing view - wow!

I did have a couple of gripes - first of all the lack of lighting! Despite 3 lamps, a desk light, bar light, bathroom lights, entry light, and personal reading lights, the room remained quite dark, which was a pain for putting on makeup!
My second gripe was no free wi-fi - this should be standard by now, and there was free wi-fi pretty much everywhere else I went in Melbourne.More
