My client put me up here for 12 nights. I had some previous experience with the hotel because of work functions in the meeting rooms and hence was not that enthused about the idea of staying here for such a time.
I should not have worried.
Two things stand out about the hotel:
- the rooms have been refurbished and were comfortable, funky, well sized and practical. In Room 213, the desk had accessible power and date cables (a bugbear of mine), the bed was incredibly comfortable, the room came with a toaster, and the shower was huge with double shower heads (including a rainfall head). The thing that impressed me most, however, was the style that the interior design had, particularly the nice wood/laminate furniture and highlight panels, offset by the tasteful use of mirrors and old (1950s) photos of the Melbourne CBD (which carried out to public spaces as well).
- the staff were incredibly helpful (and plentiful). There always seemed to be multiple staff at the lifts and in the lobby who would say hello and offer some form of assistance.
Without a doubt I would head back to the Melbourne Marriott Hotel.
