My husband and I stayed at the Stamford Plaza for 2 nights in a King Spa Suite. The room itself is very nice and clean, spacious and the king bed was super comfortable. The location is great and very convenient. Its a short walking distance from Bourke St Mall, Chinatown, Federation Square and Crown Casino. The tram stop is also just down the corner. However, the hotel is far from 5-star or even 4-star. The hotel is in need of a much needed update, the appearance is old and tired and the hallway carpets are stained. There is a pool and spa on the top floor but unfortunately the spa was out of order so we couldn't use it. Staff were really friendly and really helpful which I appreciate, however an average stay and most probably would not choose to stay here again.

My wife and I were given a night away by the in-laws who organised a room at the Stamford Plaza Melbourne through Wotif for $190. It included a 1 bedroom suite with breakfast. The original booking was for a queen bed and being tall I called up and requested a King Size bed but was told that I would have to ask on check in to determine availability and pay an additional cost. On arrival I simply provided our voucher and they stated we had received a complimentary upgrade to a king size 1br suite so was pretty happy with that. The room was on the 8th floor and was more than comfortable. It’s certainly not 5 stars as described, however was a very comfortable 4 star hotel and you wouldn’t be able to complain for the price. The breakfast next morning was a good spread, the only comment would be that there was a heap of people some who had been waiting a while, however being a party of 2 we were seated pretty much straight away. The hotel is a decent one with all the amenities, but is probably in need of a refurb given the decor is stuck in the late eighties. Overall a good comfortable stay.

I stayed here for a week as part of my work trip. This hotel has proven to be fantastic in every sense. Food was magnificent, starting with breakfast in the morning. Breakfast variety was amazing and chefs went the extra mile by making me a 6 white 1 yoke omelette. Room was spacious, clean and hotel location is fabolous. Overall excellent experience

This place is not falling apart, but standards are slipping. Our room had a broken toilet seat, a faulty lamp and an ironing board that no longer functioned. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, to find one fault is a misfortune, to find two looks like carelessness, to find three (in an allegedly upmarket hotel) looks like rank bad management of housekeeping.
