“Nice room, attentive staff, beautiful building.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

Only stayed for one night in a studio room but it was quite nice.
The building itself is an old building that has been re-fitted. It was interesting.
The staff were helpful.
The room was clean and the balcony was OK - the only downside was that there is a building being constructed next door so it would be better to be away from that.
Also, the balcony itself wasn't very clean...a few cigarette butts lying around.
The breakfast was OK...not that amazing, just the usual things.
It was a nice stay.

Room Tip: If you're getting a balcony room make sure you're away from the building under construction.

“Comfortable, friendly, convenient.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

I stayed here for one night with a friend. I chose a balcony room (7th floor) and was very pleasantly surprised with the size of the balcony. The view was really nice with the mix of old and new architecture. Now, I do admit that the scaffolding surrounding the building being renovated next door was a bit sad, but, really, we just moved our chairs to a different part of the balcony and got on with enjoying the view in the other direction. We stayed on a Saturday night so, again we were lucky that there was no noise or workman to spoil our evening.
The room was all we needed. Lots of space. Basic kitchenette that suited our basic purpose of a couple of drinks and warming up a plate of food.
Check-in and out was efficient and friendly. Free drink from the bar was a nice little extra. Breakfast buffet was extensive and again always lovely staff.
We didn't need or expect much so our expectaions were surpassed and we really enjoyed our stay. I'll be back.

Room Tip: Ask to avoid the side that has the renovations going on.

“Poorest Hotel we've experienced in Melbourne”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012 via mobile

Good location and clean. We were very disappointed to wake on the first morning to realize that we could not open the curtains to our room because of ongoing work in the next building. We could have passed coffee to the workman in the scaffolding of the adjacent building. It was like living in a cave for the weekend - not pleasant at all. We must say that the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

“Excellent value for spacious rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

It is in a part of Collins Street which in the past had some of the most beautiful buildings of any city in the world.
This is one of those lovely historical buildings which has now been lovingly and well converted to a hotel.
The rooms are large and comfortable perhaps lacking a designers flair but nonetheless very relaxing to spend time in.
The location is good being convenient to both the centre of Melbourne, Southbank restaurants, the Casino and the Exhibition Centre.
It is perhaps more spacious than typical 5 star hotels but offers great value for the size of the rooms

“Good accommodation in Prime location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Stayed at the Sebel in Melbourne for a conference 8 to 10 February 2011. Overall this venue is very good for Conferences; plenty of space, easy access and restaurant (Willows) food was of a very good standard. The location - Albert Park, was a good hours walk from town city and well serviced by a tram line along St Kilda Road (behind the Hotel).
The Queen room was a little disappointing; decor was dated and the tv remote was a 'challenge' - And NO tv guide. However, the fridge was well stocked, the bed comfortable, the room sound proof and the shower pressure great. A good range of guest services from complementary shoe-shine to a tour booking facility.
Of particular treat was the dinning room; a great selection for breakfast and lunches. I did not expereicne evening dinning.
I would stay again and rate 4/5.

Room Tip: Try to get room overlooking the lake but make sure the traffic noise is not an issue for you.
