“Magnnificent bed and the hotel was pretty good as well!”

Spent the night here last week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The highlight was the king size bed which would have to be the best we have ever slept in. We had a king size city view room.
Apart from the protesters in the city square who kept us awake until 2.30am everything else was great.
Beautiful, spacious bathroom and very generous room. The staff were all polite and friendly which makes for a pleasant change from other 5 star hotels where the staff can sometimes be a little arrogant.
The breakfast was also fabulous with a lovely variety and food which was freshly cooked.
Very happy to recommend this lovely, classy hotel.

“disapointed”

A friend of mine recently received a gift voucher on his birthday for this hotel and decided to bring me along. We were both really excited as it looked far more extravagant than the places we have stayed before. If anything we should have been more easily impressed than the usual clientele. On arrival we were told that regardless of the fact that they were paid in advance an additional $100 was required as some sort of holding deposit. I was told that this money would be returned to me and the charges placed on the voucher. Not a problem. The room was beautiful, the bed super comfortable. Room service was fast and delicious. Having to leave early the next day we were told there was still a considerable amount remaining on the voucher. Great we though we’ll come back for some spa treatments or dinner or something when we have more time. This for some unknown reason was unacceptable. We were told that the remainder of my friends present would be forfeit. The staff member we spoke to was incapable of correctly relaying why we were unhappy to a more senior staff person. We left being told that they would contact us regarding the remaining voucher value. To my knowledge they didn’t. And even now over 24 hours later the holding deposit has not been returned to me. Any lag in this return was never explained to me when handing over my credit details. When calling regarding when I could expect to receive my money back I was transferred to an answering machine. In my opinion completely inexcusable.

Dear Reviewer. We are pleased you enjoyed a refreshing stay, however we regret the experience you encountered regarding the use of your gift voucher. The terms and conditions as stated on our gift vouchers are that any unused amount will be forfeited however on this occasion when a request was made for the unused portion of the voucher, we were happy to transfer the remaining credit to another voucher the day after check out and advised the new voucher had been placed in the mail. Regarding credit card pre authorization as a guarantee of payment, this procedure is acknowledged on your reservation confirmation and is standard international hotel practice. As the accommodation was prepaid, a small supplement to cover additional charges is be held against a credit card on check in. Whilst no monies is transferred from your account to the hotel’s account until you check out, your credit card provider may take several working days to cancel this reserve placed on your card, which is out of our control. We apologise for any misunderstanding and hope you consider returning for a more fulfilling experience.

My boyfriend took me to the Westin for a two night weekend getaway. The location is great, right in the centre of Melbourne. Shops, restaurants and cafes right on the doorstep. From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly and professional. The rooms are exceptionally clean and comfortable. The bathroom is spacious, and the bed was wonderful to sink into after a day out and about in the city. The stay was made even more memorable due to the fact that my boyfriend proposed to me during our stay!

“Expectations not met”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

Went to the Westin for our Anniversary, I paid an extra $100 for a late checkout and upgrade so we had a lovely spa suite. The check in staff were very friendly and we were excited to celebrate our special night there. When we arrived at our room I was a little disappointed that no effort was made to reference to our Wedding Anniversary and I found the bathroom needed a good clean and spa bath was quite dirty. I had friends that stayed at another 5 star hotel in the city and for their Anniversary were upgraded to a suite on the upper floors and were give champagne when they arrived, guess I was hoping the Westin was the same, sadly it wasent. Pool was not as good as pictures and was smelly and too cold for my husband to swin in.

Dear Reviewer. Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed an uplifting stay in our Westin Spa Studio, however we regret your experience was not a completely fulfilling one and would like to address the concerns you have raised. We pride ourselves on maintaining a high level of cleanliness in all areas of the hotel so we were extremely disappointed to read your comments regarding your guest room bathroom. Please rest assured we take this feedback very seriously and it will be shared with our Housekeeping Department to ensure our quality standards are maintained. Regarding our Wellness Centre lap pool, the temperature is kept quite cool to ensure a refreshing swim as many of our guests use these facilities as part of their daily workout routine, however we appreciate this may not be suitable for everyone. Thank you also for bringing the odor to our attention, this will be investigated by our Engineering team. Finally, like yourselves, many of our guests are celebrating special occasions during their stay and we truly appreciate the opportunity to be part of these memorable moments so it is certainly always our intention to recognize this in some way. We sincerely apologise this was overlooked during your stay and if you consider returning to the hotel in the future, please contact us directly so we may have the opportunity to provide a more distinctive experience.

“The best at the West!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

Have stayed at the Westin in Melbourne many times.
The staff are always welcoming and provide fantasic service.
Our recent stay was on New Years Eve. My husband and I were accompanied by our daughter, son in law and 2 grandsons. We had a wonderful stay.We all enjoyed the fireworks from the comfort of our bay window room. All the rooms are beautifully furnished and the bathrooms are luxurious. My husband and I have dined at Allegro restaurant many times. The food is very good and the only negative would be that the portions are sometimes too small. Would recommend the lazy jazz sunday Lunch, its very good. The breakfast is served at allegro every morning and it does provide a reasonably good choice.Small improvement at the hot food bar would be for it to be re-designed because it seems to be too high to reach to dish out the food on to the plates. If you are a small person ( i'm 5"2) it is very uncomfortable and awkward.Overall this hotel is tops and in an excellent location. Can't wait for our next visit!!

Room Tip: Bay window or balcony rooms are great.

Dear Reviewer. Thank you for choosing to stay with us for your New Year celebrations. We are delighted you enjoyed our central location from which to enjoy the festivities and you experienced our personal, instinctive service. We are pleased you enjoyed refreshing dining experiences in Allegro Restaurant. Our Jazz Sunday Lunch is certainly a special option for a family get together. Thank you also for your feedback regarding the hot food bar. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back in the not too distant future. Be well.
