“Comfortable but not Great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stayed for three nights for business with this my second visit to Sullivans; enjoying a comfortable (Queen size) but relatively small 'Standard Double' room. It is quiet, clean and has lovely pillows and bedding; and I can guarantee a good night’s sleep.

It is relatively convenient, not right in the centre of town, and located near the Swan Riverfront. It is a short walk to the CBD / Perth Conference Centre / Ferry to Fremantle / Rottnest Island. I do like walking and given Perth residents are very active, there are plenty of places to stretch out and go for a jog, or a walk, or a ride using the Hotel's bikes along the river front.

This property backs onto Kings Park, (be it with a large cliff immediately behind the Hotel), and there is a very good exercise / walking option into Kings Park at Jacobs Ladder (less than 400 meters on the left along the Mount Bay road towards the city) allowing you to climb up a number of steps into Kings Park.

There is free Wi-Fi, and I used the laundry and ironing facilities which were serviceable, but only looked at the pool.

We also took advantage of the 'free' Cat Bus Stop - Blue, right out the front, to take us across town and to the train station and a short walk to Cottesloe Beach where we enjoyed the Sunset eating at Indiana Restaurant right on the foreshore.

Accommodation in Perth is expensive, and while I would like a larger room with separate lounge/desk, I will stay again, and have booked for a week in May 2012.

Room Tip: Consider a Deluxe Double for more space. There are also 2 bedroom apartments, and larger family room...

“Good location,comfortable and friendly hotel”

Our stay in Sullivans was comfortable and the staff friendly. The location is ideal with the Free Blue Cat bus stop directly outside the hotel. Free cycles for use and easy access to the swan river foreshore cycle tracks. Also only 500 yards from Jacobs ladder access to Kings Park. With small but clean and comfortable pool. All make this an ideal and reasonably priced Perth hotel.

“Basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Stayed for 3 nights in July 2011 (bit slow doing this).
We arrived late with a rental car and just scooped the last park. Parking is pretty limited. Not sure what we would have done if no parks as there is not much around the area.
On check-in there was an issue to deal with. The price they wanted to charge me was greater than that on my confirmation email. Had to sort that out prior to getting to the room though quickly resolved.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful during the stay.
Did not use the pool or the restaurant facilities.
There is an ironing/laundry room if you need.
The rooms are very basic but I guess you can tell that when you are booking (check out the pics). It was clean and comfortable and had no issues.
We were charged $374 for three nights.
As stated the hotel is close to Kings Park but not much else. There is a free bus into Central Perth that stops just outside the hotel which was great. Too far to walk.

“Surprisingly Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Arrived at this hotel after a long journey from Europe and didn't know what to expect from this hotel, first impressions were okay, at the bottom of kings park - good, next to a hospital - hmm, but it was very quiet and didn't get any interruptions from it.

The room was basic but functional, with a small toilet/shower area. The bed was comfortable, with a fridge located inside a cupboard. The air conditioning unit in my room was incredibly loud, but I was able to sleep with it on a low setting.

The pool was very small, but on a hot day, still serves its purpose well, next to the pool was laundrette facilities. The hotel also had free wifi and a guest computer for internet usage, but i did find the connection on it to be a little slow.

Breakfast was the best part of this hotel, the continental breakfast was superb, with an excellent spread of cereals, bread, fruit and meats, the coffee was also good. The hotel could also provide a cooked breakfast if requested, but I found the continental option to be excellent.

Overall: a good hotel to get a few nights sleep, with not much road noise, the rooms are a little bit basic, but functional, the wifi is good, and the breakfast is excellent. When staying in Perth I usually stay in the Goodearth or Perth Amabassador on the first night after flying in from Europe, but will probably use this hotel now due to the pool and excellent breakfast.

“good points bad points”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

WE stayed 17th Jan for 3 nights, Right first the bad points and I'll end with the good ones, by no means could our balcony room be Deluxe in anyone's language you can't just say something is deluxe is has got to be,so do not look for that,e.g.our carpet was badly stained in not a few places and and the tap dripped really a lot,not the end of the world agreed. we did ask to be moved and it was arranged for the next day but after sleeping on it we just sat tight. The tap was fixed but you needed forearms like Popeye to turn it off, bathroom badly needs upgrading.
good points, Irma at reception was brill, really nice lass, location brill, views form balcony brill and at night awesome of the city buildings. breakfast very good so were staff there, in fact all staff were brill. And having free Wi Fi was tremendous thanks and big comfy bed.
probably speaking to Brits now,the hotel is very like any British seaside guesthouse nice, clean, comfortable but Perth is an expensive place to visit and prices are way above the norm for everyday things, e.g. I was charged £15 for 2 pints of lager and the barmaid never even blinked.

Room Tip: Check it out first
