I've stayed at the DeBrett before, and really like it for both location, rooms and service....BUT this time I was put in the room they should close down permanently!! It's a superior room, so costs a third more than regular rooms.

The problem is it has no natural light or outside windows - it faces onto the interior atrium where the bar and restaurant are - and you have to keep the curtains closed all the time, as with a light on inside (which is sort of important in order to see), anyone sitting in the restaurant or bar can see straight into the room.

It really spoiled the stay for me, having to keep the curtains closed and not being able to open a window - and the fact that they charge a premium for the room and didn't give any sort of warning made the whole thing seem worse - even backpacking in the Greek islands years ago they had the decency to say the room had no outside window, so surely in this day and age it must be a legal obligation??

So, it's still a great hotel, but make sure they don't try and give you this room!!

Great Stay. This lovely hotel has well appointed rooms with nice decorative accents. The staff were all very good and helpful. Definitely recommended.

For a little slice of New York chic with a twist of Kiwi stay here. This was about my 40th hotel room in 9 months, admittedly i was in here by chioce, but it was one of the best, Fantastic reception staff who helped in ever way and a great room with mucho comfy bed. The breakfast the next day which is included was fantastic with a great variety of fresh fruit, cerals, bread and real coffee, not percolated stuff but reall Coffee!! Also treated ourselves to dinner in the dining room truly amazing food. The location can't be faulted, and while the bars around the hotel can be noisy the rooms are double glazed so are very quiet and good aircon means they don't get stuffy. Whether its work or vaccation. Stay here!
