Mount Victoria Lookout can be reached by many different routes in Wellington, there are numerous walking tracks both from the City side and from the Hataitai side, the Mt Victoria track passes through lovely bush/forests and the spot where one scene from the Lord of the Rings movie was filmed. This was the scene where the hobbits were hiding from the Black Horses. The paths all lead uphill but at a steady gradient. The lookout at the top has an incredible view of Wellington harbour and hills beyond, well worth the climb. For those that prefer faster transport, you can drive to the Mt Victoria lookout or if you have a mountain bike, the paths are wide enough for both walkers and bikes. A nice way to spend a sunny afternoon.
