Comfortable and clean. All you need for a city break. So sad all the damage done in the city centre. Must say not a lot to see as the centre is cordoned off.

My wife and I spent our first night of our NZ honeymoon here. After traveling for nearly 30 hours, we were exhausted. We were very pleased to find that the motel was clean, comfortable, and in a great location.
After sleeping in we explored christchurch. The earthquake damage is extensive and sad. It's actually quite impressive that the motel is undamaged, given its proximity to the city center.
Overall, a great place to stay in Christchurch.
We stayed here in August 2011, we arrived from the trans-alpine train and therefore had no car. Tina was fantastic, we borrowed her car to get our shopping that evening, she helped us with a map to navigate our way around which is quite tricky as lots of the roads are closed or one way! We borrowed her car again the next day and drove out to Akoroa which she recommended, fantastic place would recommend a visit there. Our room was spacious for all four of us, I really could not fault anything. Our airport shuttle for the next day was arranged by Tina as well. Lovely place to spend our last couple of days in New Zealand, we really did not appreciate how much of the city centre at the time we visited was affected by the quake, but Tina made sure it did not spoil our visit to Christchurch. Would not hesitate to stay there again.
We spent 2 nights at the City Centre motel in January. Our room was a studio - small, but clean and cozy. It was nice having a sliding door to open up and get some fresh air. The location was good - it was a 10-15 minute walk to the city center and Botanical Gardens. Normally, this might seem a bit far, but since the city center itself was abandoned, this was about as close as you could get. Also, it allowed us to walk away from the city center to find restaurants to eat at in the evening.
The owner was extremely helpful. We wanted to do laundry one night, and the guest laundry had already closed. She allowed us to us the motel's laundry (in their personal quarters) - this meant multiple interruptions of her evening as i came over to switch loads to the dryer, etc. She was extremely helpful and friendly throughout this entire process!
We were shocked with how empty Christchurch seemed - the damage to the city was surreal. We did enjoy seeing the new shipping crate-built shopping area and the Gardens. Our main reason for the stop was to do a dolphin swim in Akaroa harbor which was fun. We also took the train from Christchurch to Greymouth which was one of our favorite NZ experiences! The hotel set up a free shuttle for us that picked us up at the hotel in the morning to take us to the train station - very convenient!
The City Centre Motel is a great accomodation. The owners and staff are very committed and customer oriented. The rooms are very clean and the motel is not effected by the recent earthquakes.
It's a 15 minute walk to the city center.
The staff provided a lot of tips and pointed out interesting places to visit in Christchurch.
