“Great Value”

Overall was happy with this hotel for the family value. But must admit I was expecting more based on the other reviews and my previous experience of Trip Advisor ratings. Importantly, this property has changed hands in the last few months and was managed by caretakers (not the owners) while we were there. I think it showed. There was a drying room for the ski gear, and the family room was excellent. The kids enjoyed the computer games, Wii games and also playing pool. A shame we were all so exhausted after a day of skiing...otherwise could have made more use of this space. The room we were in had one queen and two single beds. It was clean but basic, with no view. The food was probably the biggest letdown based on some of the previous reviews. I think the menu has been reduced by the new owners. The bain marie pretty much destroyed the scrambled eggs if you didn't get in early enough (not sure what was happening with the grey layer on the bottom?), and some fresh fruit would have been nice at breakfast. Also, the dinner was a set menu of fairly basic fare.
We were skiing every day and found Jindabyne a good location to access Thredbo, Skitube, and Smiggins.
I would definitely consider staying here again as I think it represents great family value. Just didn't rise to the high expectations I have based on experience of Trip Advisor ratings in the past.

“Comfortable, secure and witin easy reach of all Snowy Mountain facilites.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2010

A summertime visit is a must!
From the Aalberg one can appreciate what is beneath the snow in wintertime.
The walking trail along the boardwalk through the fragile grasses and sedges to the patches of summertime snow at Mt Kosiusko is inspiring and challenging.
From the Ski Lift - the excitement of watching the the dangerous manoeurves of mountain bike riders decending the slopes which snow skiers go down in the winter.
Then being able to return to the luxury and welcoming hospitality of the management and staff with the bar and games/ loungeroom for relaxation.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, families, couples and singles. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. It is close to all amenities in Jindabyne and you can walk or drive to shops, lake, swimming pool, banks etc. It has good size rooms, great living area and full breakfast daily.

You are able to shop and dine in Jindabyne and have all the other ski resorts within easy reach. Summer or winter there is so much to do, summer you have walking, boating, festivals, bike riding, fishing and winter the skiing.

“ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC-THE FIRST TIMES THE BEST TIME”

We don"t get away often as we have a 4.5 star B&B in Mission Beach FNQ. So as you would ask the kids who have never been to the snow before, what would they like to do?
Well we had a hell of a time at the Aalberg! A fantastic brekky every morning, the restaurant offers delicious dinner in the evenings, the lounge room is so good it has games consols for the kids playstation xbox etc, huge Tv and is very warm, cosy, relaxing and a pool room is there if you wish.
Our thanks go to Dan(thinks he's the boss), Naomi who basically keeps the place going and get's all the bookings with her brilliant customer service skills, Jim the new cheff who really knows what he's doing, and Josh who when the Jim has his day off and Dan sleeps in especialy on the day we left and didn't say goodbye (we forgive you), Josh had the whole brekky thing covered on his own and i think the eggs may have even been better than Jims.
Any way Guys thanks heaps as we will always remember our stay at the Aalberg and hope to return one day.
