Stayed at Hillhaven for 4 nights in November 2010. Manager Sabrina was very helpful from the first phone enquiry. Looking over the photos on the Hillhaven website enabled me to decide on Apartment 25. It is reasonably high up, renovated to a high standard and has a bath. The lower apartments appeared to be too close to ground level and passers-by for my taste, with large but rather exposed decks. If you can afford it, go for a 'Gold Deluxe' apartment as these are guaranteed to be renovated. The other apartments have the same great views but many appeared to be somewhat older in their fit-out.
From the balcony we could watch the many people surfing until dusk, joggers, mothers with prams and the general life of the headland. Beautiful Burleigh Heads National Park is right next door if you feel like going for a walk. Walking past the many other apartment blocks in Burleigh only confirmed my opinion that I had chosen the best one - mainly for its smaller building size and beachfront/headland location.
There are many restaurants nearby, including a Govinda's vegetarian which to our sorrow we didn't find until the last night - so make sure you check out what's available other than in the main street. You don't have to settle for Montezumas!
Burleigh does not seem to be the place for pubs, nightclubs and drunkeness but instead if you want to enjoy nature & the beach with all amenities within easy reach then Burleigh is the place to be on the Gold Coast and Hillhaven the place to stay.
