We loved staying at Baannamping. The setting is just gorgeous alongside the river under the shade of big trees. The rooms were massive and very clean with lovely parquetry floors. Television wasn't much good, only about four channels and Thai language only, but we didn't spend much time in our rooms and were mostly on the lovely deck outside, reading books on very comfy chairs. The bathroom was a little dated and in need of some touching up.
It's a fair way out of town so you have to be up for that, it took about half an hour to drive in which we didn't mind because the bikes for hire were very well priced and in good condition. And it's very close to the villages surrouinding Chiang Mai, like Ban Tawai, which was one of the highlights of our trip for all the amazing goods and crafts it offered.
The staff were simply fabulous, they did all they could to make things comfortable for us. We never saw a menu at the restaurant, every day we had a chat in the morning about what we'd like to eat and a new and unique meal was prepared in the evening. It was often very nice Thai home-cooked dishes that I hadn't tried before.
We would most certainly go back, this was a lovely guest house.
