“great value and super nice staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2011

Fast WiFi and delicious food. I recommend the chicken sandwich. Spent a couple hours each day (of a 4-day stay) exploring the surrounding neighborhoods on foot and felt perfectly safe, even at night. While checking out I said I was planning to walk to the airport but instead the manager offered to drive me. All in all a lovely place to stay and a very fair price.

“Comfortable and friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2010

I really enjoyed my stay in Casa Santorini. Someone complained about cold showers but that is not true, in the hotel room that we took, the water was hot. The size of the hotel rooms are not small, they are normal and very comfortable even with two beds (one small and one queen). The washroom is big too.

In that hotel, they also have a hostel, and in the hostel the rooms are different but that is normal since it is a hostel. However the hotel rooms are comfortable. The bed sheets are great and comfortable. We once asked them to clean them and not only did they clean them but gave us different ones that looked very good. They clean very well our rooms every day.

The breakfast in the morning is our choice, they prepare it for us and serve it to us, it is very good. (And it comes with free breakfast). The price was great for us because we could not find another hotel which offered free breakfast and free shuttle service to the airport, free Wi-fi (wireless internet) along with free use of the computers, and free water. (There is also a main fridge where we can put our food for the next days, and also a microwave and a coffee maker).

The staff is very friendly and served us very well. The owner speaks English so that was positive for us.

It's near to the airport so it is very suitable for a traveler. I did have a car so I parked it safely in their garage.

“Ground floor rooms suffer from loud buzzer and/or mold smell”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2010

Don't fall for the fast talk of the enthusiastic English speaking promoter/driver of this place who tries to lure arriving passengers at GUA Aurora Airport to this place - he promised higher floor rooms that were not delivered. The staff gave us the pick of 3 ground floor rooms - two back rooms reeked of mold and were small, and the larger room next to the check in desk is as noisy as can be, because the buzzer to attract staff to come to the security gate is as loud as can be, periodically going off through the night. If you want to pay with credit card, they charge 10% extra. Proximity to the airport is handy as is the free shuttle to/from GUA. It is more of a hostel than a hotel.

“cold shower, claustrophobic room!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2010

First, let me say that the staff here are wonderful. They let me arrive very early in the day and since my flight left early the next morning, they let me eat my free breakfast (yummy!) for dinner that night. The reason I chose to stay here was the free taxi to the airport, which is literally 2 minutes away.

But I was really disappointed by the freezing cold shower and the size of my room (see the picture, it was basically a bed in a closet with a tiny window). For the price (not cheap for Guate), I would expect a decent-sized room and a hot shower. During the day, everything was under construction so there was a lot of noise on their rooftop patio. The wireless internet was also broken.

“Classic backpacker hostel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2010

This is your classic backpacker hostel, but I still recommend it. Great location, reliable service and kept clean.

I did have a problem with the internet connection. They said they have wireless, but I could not get the security key. Nobody there even knew that they had a wireless connection in-house! In fact, I don't even think anyone there even knew what a wireless connection was. They kept referring me back to the hard-wired terminals.

But that is because I was there doing work. If you are traveling around, you don't want to waste your time goofing around on the internet anyway.
