“A small bit of paradise.”

I stayed here for one at the end of my week long trip in Guatemala. I found out about this hotel from my Lonely Planet guidebook, I only stay in LP recommended hotels. Like the other reviews, I have nothing but amazing things to say about this small boutique style hotel. Everything was perfect. My room opened up into the small courtyard and I had a lovely view of the tree. The entire hotel was beautiful. I enjoyed a nice dinner around the communal dinner table with other travelers. Even the taxi driver who picked me up the next morning was very nice. The only complaint I have is that the rooms have thin walls (not unusual in Central American hotels) and some of the other guests apparently had to leave very early, at like 6 am, and they sat in the living room area and talked quite loudly while waiting for their ride. If you are a light sleeper, you may want to ask for a room not away from this central area.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, choose one away from the courtyard and living room area.

“Long history”

My first visit to the Posada Belen was in 1974. Then it was Casa Sanchinelli and run by Maria Sanchinelli and her husband. The small intimate hotel was a place of refuge for the groups my company led throughout Guatemala. They offered great meals and guidance around the city and suggested new sites to see.
Now, I live in Panajachel and stay at Posada Belen when I am in the city. Rene Sanchinelli and his wife,Francesca, now run the hotel and I find it just as comfortable and warm as I did those many years ago. The help is attentive and goes beyond the norm to see to ones needs. I highly recommend a stay at the hotel. The museum has artifacts that Rene has collected from all parts of the country and is worth seeing.

“Great Hotel in Guatemala City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

My sister and I spent a few days in Antigua and decided at the last minute to leave a day early and tour Guatemala City. We got a recommendation to use this hotel as our base and we were really pleased. What a true gem of a hotel and the owner and staff were just outstanding. They answered our email within an hour and had someone pick us up at the bus station. They offered a couple of different tours to us, both of which were reasonably priced and the one we ended up choosing was really great. I can not recommend this place enough! If I ever come back to Guatemala I will not hesitate to stay here.

“A Memorable Experience and Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I traveled alone to Guatemala City and was looking online for tour companies when planning my trip. I came across Guatemalaweb.com and they were very helpful and responsive so much so that I decided to change my hotel plans and stay at Posada Belen, who they are associated with. All I can say is I am glad I did, this is the best place to stay in zona 1 and is clean and safe with good breakfast. The interior of the hotel is interesting and unique and the staff is very friendly and helpful which leads to the warm feeling you get as a guest. If you are looking for great place to stay in Guate that would help give you a more authentic experience I strongly recommend Posada Belen. The staff and hotel helped to make my stay a memorable experience; I hope to return someday soon... Also if you speak Spanish (or at least some) I highly recommend Raul as your guide. You can also arrange tours through Guate tours that will pick you up at the hotel.

“Posada Belen Museo Inn - Exceptional! Best Inn In Guatemala City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Posada Belen Museo Inn, is the best place to stay in Guatemala City if you are looking for a very clean inn with a wonderful, warm atmosphere. The inn has a lovely sitting area next to a beautiful courtyard where you are welcome to relax and read or use the Wi-Fi internet if needed. The dining area is equally welcoming with interesting artifacts from Guatemala and is adjacent to the other side of the courtyard. The cost per night also cannot be better, at $48.00 which includes a delicious breakfast cooked by the staff. In fact, all the meals are cooked to order according to the choices offered and are exceptional.

Also, Francesca, one of the owners at the Posada Belen Museo Inn, has been absolutely wonderful to me. She had sent a taxi for a nominal fee to pick me up at the airport on January 4, 2012 to bring me to Posada Belen. The taxi driver was courteous and on time. Then she helped me to make reliable transportation and hotel arrangements for when I needed to leave for Antigua on January 9th.

In addition, the staff was gracious to help me with my TIGO phone since the voice messages are all in Spanish and my Spanish language skills are limited. They explained that I needed a new SIM card (they call it a chip) because the present one had expired and provided me a map indicating where the nearest TIGO stores were located in a short walking distance to the inn. They indicated that if I needed further assistance, they would be glad to help. I was thoroughly impressed with the kindness and generosity of the entire staff of Posada Belen Museo Inn and plan on returning prior to my departure to the United States.

Room Tip: This is my third time staying at Posada Belen Museo Inn, and I can honestly say that all the rooms t...
