“Great Hotel in Bangkok”

Having never been to Bangkok before I found the task of finding a decent hotel in a central location a bit daunting. Afterall the city is quite spread out and most upscale hotels claim to be 'central'. After choosing the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, I have to say that I was not disappointed.

This hotel is located on Sukhumvit Road, in a bustling part of the city. You will need to take some kind of transportation to get to other touristy areas (you will have to do this from most hotels), however it couldn't be easier with the Sky Train and Metro stations right outside the hotel. Getting to JJ market for instance took around 20 minutes.

The more upscale hotels are on the river - the views looks amazing, however it seems like it's a bit harder (take a bit longer) to get from A to B.

Inside the Grande Hotel is beautiful. There is a jazz bar, fabulous restaurant, exercise room (I didn't go in, I was on holiday), spa and gorgeous outdoor pool and jacuzzi. The pool is small but very relaxing - you feel a million miles away from a big city.

What really makes the hotel are the staff. They couldn't be friendlier.

If you're looking for a central place to stay with friendly, helpful staff - this is a great hotel choice. The next time I find myself in Bangkok I will be staying here.

“Wow, what a great choice for 9 nights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

We do not normally stay at Sheraton Hotels but on this trip we stayed at 2..one in Hong Kong and this one. Our stays at these properties have now put Sheraton back on our list of hotel choices. The Sheraton Grande in Bangkok was fantastic. The staff was friendly and helpful...welcoming us "home" each time we returned from our day of touring. Our room rate included breakfast either by the pool or in the restaurant just off the lobby. Both were excellent and plentiful. I am sorry to return home to my morning bowl of cereal. The concierge staff was always helpful with information and directions. The hotel does have hotel cars on hand for a fee if you so choose. The location is excellent being at the crossroads for the SkyTrain and the subway. Wi-Fi is available in the lobby and library and for a fee in your room. We had reserved a room with 2 queen beds but at check-in we were given a room with 2 queens and a twin so I know that there is a great room for families. Room 2020. The pool is nice....not a lap pool and no diving..just a quiet relaxing pool, and there is a hot tub. The pool area is tropical and lovely. There is a spa on site which we did not use as we found other locations for much less money. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again if I ever get back to Bangkok.

Room Tip: Room 2020 has 2 queen beds and a twin.

My family and i were given to stay at this hotel since it was chosen by the conference agent. my husband had a conference then at Queen Sirikit Convention Centre which was just 1 stop by skytrain from the hotel. We booked an addition room to accomodate for my children to stay. We were given the end 2 rooms which could be closed with 1 main door. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable with large bathroom and also a closet room.

Breakfast at the hotel was huge selection of international and local spread. If you are staying for 5 nights, meaning you will see the same breakfast spread everyday and it will bore you. The service staff at the restaurant was very attentive at their peak hours.

The hotel was strategic as the BTS Asok station is linked at an elevated walkway from 1 building to another, hence making it convenient walking even when raining without walking on the street level. There is a huge shopping mall just across the hotel called Terminal 21 and also Robinsons department store just across. There are many eateries like mexican or deli which is only about 5 mins walk away in case you are bored with hotel food.

Babysitting was convenient for hire too and the price was very reasonable even for late night charges. The concierge was very helpful to accomodate us with our enquiries on places to go to. We also booked a day tour to go to Floating Market at Ratchaburi through the hotel travel agent. The landscape of the the poolside was a lovely modern thai garden concept.

“Fantastic location, great service”

I stay at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit whenever I travel to Bangkok on work assignments. I'm there no less than 5 times a year. The location couldn't be better as it's got a sheltered pathway that leads directly to the Asok BTS station. For those who know Bangkok, you'd agree that travelling by BTS is far more convenient that taking taxis because of the horrible traffics. The service at Sheraton is probably one of the best I've experienced in Southeast Asia. They are very accommodating and are always willing to help. The food at the hotel is also great, whether it's room service or the hotel restaurants. The only concern would be the price. A place like Bangkok is full of backpackers' and budget hotels which would cost a fraction of what one would pay at Sheraton.

“Best of Bangkok”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This is a great hotel. From the front door, to the restaurants, to the bathroom...luxury is apparent everywhere. The rooms are very spacious. The service quality is impeccable and te restaurants provide good food for all palates. Direct access to the train is a huge plus, since Bangkok traffic never seems to let up. The hotel is convenient to shopping, restaurants and massage parlors.
