This is my second stay at the Park Plaza; both times for business. I could have stayed at one of the larger chains such as the Sheraton but liked the sound of this hotel from the reviews on TripAdvisor. For me, as a business woman generally travelling on my own, I like smaller hotels as long as they do not sacrifice amenities and of course great service is a must.
The Park Plaza has definitely lived up to the accolades written here. Why book your stay?
- smaller quieter hotel; very quiet at night (windows must be double-glazed)
- exceptionally friendly staff; happy to book restaurants, call tailors and even organise impromptu cooking lessons with one of the chefs
- food is good; although the menu is not extensive, everything is prepared in a modern open kitchen in front of you in the dining area. The room service menu, always a good test, is very good. The Tom Yum Goong; spicy prawn, mushroom and lemongrass soup is exceptional with just the right balance of flavours
-the beds are incredibly comfortable and a very welcome thing when one has flown for hours across the world and you just want to go to sleep!
- the price. Excellent value
The cooking lesson was very enjoyable. It is not 100% hands on so cooking purists may not want this style of teaching; Chef preps the ingredients foe the 4 dishes we cooked beforehand. I loved it though as I only had a few hours to get a meal and leave for the airport so I managed to do the lesson, sit down to eat it inside of 2 hours and the price was reasonable.
The Park Plaza is definitely a Bangkok fixture for me now and I will be back when we holiday here next year
