“Another Fabulous Place With Fabulous Staff!!”

This hotel is a very great choice for those of you on a budget but still wanting something special. The price is so reasonable and I thought it was actually better than the Rachamankha (which we also stayed at). The rooms are spacious, clean and full of local character. The bed is on the hard side but we actually slept really well on it. They have all the amenities you need for a perfect holiday. The food and service are also exceptional. The staff were even happy to let us order a special meal that was not on the menu which we enjoyed near the pool. Just one note...the pool water was pretty cold so my son was not too happy to get in but in the middle of the day it is perfect. To be honest we spent most of our time around the pool just being lazy and enjoying the nice cocktails on offer....so we didn't really do much swimming. We also used their baby sitting (though they call it baby sister) and we were very impressed. Our two year old was singing some Thai songs after several uses of one of their sitters. On my return to Chiang Mai I would gladly choose this hotel again!

Room Tip: Go for the chaba deluxe!

“Oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

We stayed for four nights at the Rim. We had a second floor room with no view.
The room is decorated in dark wood, and can appear to be dark and gloomy, but is well appointed and very clean. The beds are hard, so be warned.

The staff are excellent from the moment that they met us at the airport to the second that we left.

The pool is small but very tranquil set in the middle of the courtyard of the hotel. This is a basic hotel but very comfortable. The breakfast was included for our package, and was very good, the only negative being that there tea selection was limited. The lunch and dinner menu offered a wide variety of choices server. We spoke with a couple from France who had just been walking by and stopped into the restaurant and they declared the restaurant to be the best that they had eaten at in Thailand. We happen to agree. The kitchen tends to tone down the spice for tourists, so if you like it spicy just ask. Kudos to the food and beverage manager and her staff.

Taxis and Tuk Tuks for some reason are more expensive at the hotel, walk a block away and you can usually save half the cost.

If possible take a day and go into the Mae Sen Valley, we hired a car and driver and went to the Elephant Training Center, Tiger Farm, and Orchid Farm.

“Excellent place to stay in Chiang Mai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

This resort style hotel is built with a distinctly Thai style, and is really relaxing and comfortable to stay in.
The staff are exteremely friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable.
The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have had anywhere, and food in general at their restaurant is really good because they seem to use very fresh ingredients and make healthy choices.
Super fast Wifi access from almost anywhere in the hotel.
The pool area is also nice and firnedly, although a little small and the pool water is a little cold for Thailand, but still very manageable.
Even though they are on the edge of the old ChiangMai area, it's not a long walk to get to the center, and the hotel offers shuttles that take you to wherever you want in the city center, so you have the best of the city center without the noise and hassle that come with it.
The only negative is mosquitoes, having lots of green shrubs and water near by, it's inevitable, but every room has mosquito killer in it so you never feel as if there is a problem, and as long as you don't leave your windows open, you won't have an issue.
Over-all, it's a wonderful place to stay, and I would go back there next time I go to Chiang Mai.

“A Perfect Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2012

I was traveling with a friend from the US (I currently live in Singapore). The Rim was just what we wanted...lovely, peaceful with a friendly, helpful staff. It was totally quiet which made a sound sleep. I see some reviews say it is rather far from the center of things...true, which makes it peaceful BUT not really very far. It is a pleasant walk to many things..ie, temples, restaurants..and a short tuk-tuk ride to the river with the more upscale restaurants . For these reasons and more, I highly recommend The Rim.
In fact, I am coming back to Chiang Mai in June with my husband, daughter, son-in-law and 8 year old granddaughter....and I plan to stay here. I can't wait to show them lovely Chiang Mai and this hotel.
oops, almost forgot..the breakfast was outstanding and the coffee was spectacular (for this coffee snob). Also, dinner at the restaurant was yummy as well.

Room Tip: We stayed in # 129 and it was perfect...we had twin beds. not sure what the configuration of other r...

“Enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Just returned from a week in Chiang Mai to attend a wedding. There were several people from the wedding staying there also (including families with young kids). We spent many an afternoon sitting around the pool area having drinks/food and chatting. The food and drink service was perfect. The food delicious and the cocktails unusual, but nice. Breakfast has a basic buffet plus a menu with western and thai-style eggs / soups. The room was kept very clean. Our room was at the very front of the resort and therefore we had a bit of noise from the road out the front. Didn't keep us awake, but it may if you were a light sleeper. It's located in the quieter part of the old city, so not in the centre of everything, but there were always tuk tuks or songthous (sp?) available to take you anywhere for very little. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Choose one towards the back off the main road, and directly on the pool in case there are loud peopl...
