“A special place in the heart of Chiang Mai”

We held our wedding at Rachamankha hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand in September 2011. We visited many venues in and around Chiang Mai while looking for a wedding venue. After a tour of the hotel and its grounds, we knew that Rachamankha was the perfect place for our special day. The hotel is absolutely stunning, not to mention conveniently located in Chiang Mai’s lovely old town. The manager, Paul Walker, is a charming man, who was extremely helpful in organising our event. He allowed us to create a bespoke wedding, while also offering experienced guidance and advice. Communication with Paul, whether via email, phone, or in person was always prompt and concise. He took a lot of the pressure off us with regards to organising things like sound and lighting, musicians, wine packages, etc… The hotel florist was also a very amiable lady who did an outstanding job of creating an array of beautiful floral displays.

The day itself was a delight. Everything went smoothly, from the wedding service to the cocktail reception, the dinner and finally the dance. The staff were polite but friendly, the service impeccable, the food delicious, the setting heavenly. I think it’s safe to say our 100 guests left Rachamakha happy and thoroughly impressed. I know we did.

We spent a night in one of the deluxe rooms, which was spacious, light and airy. The décor and antique furniture were absolutely splendid, as was the swimming pool the next day.

If you are looking for a special somewhere to host your wedding in Chiang Mai, or simply somewhere that oozes soul, character and class for a relaxing/romantic break, look no further.

“Average! A Little Disapointed!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2012

This hotel was highly reccommended to us so we thought we would try it out. Our expectations may have been too high for the price of our room. It is a nice, clean, comfy room and the grounds of the hotel are great but for these prices you do expect a bit more...especially when in Thailand. Quite frankly the rooms were very plain for the amount you are paying. On a positive note, the grounds do retain that great colonial feel and the staff are really friendly. It is a relaxing environment as well. The food is nice but the cocktails were not up to par. I kept getting some odd ingredients in my mojitos and by the end of our stay we realised that every cocktail tasted like a Long Island Ice Tea which might have been the only drink they knew how to make. The bartender was a nice guy but did not know enough english for us to teach him how to make a lovely mojito for future guests. It was a nice place but really the prices should be adjusted for what it is. I think I would choose elsewhere on my next holiday to Chiang Mai.

Room Tip: This might be better without kids.

“Brilliant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

Was not expecting this. But this place is simply stunning. I stayed at the MO Dhara Dhevi and Rachamankha in early Feb 2012, and must say that my stay at Rachamankha is more satisfying. There are only 20-odd rooms in this property, and they take very good care of you. The number of staff to rooms is incredibly high. There are so many people waiting to assist me in everything that I asked. It is a very tranquil nice boutique hotel. The only complaint is the bathroom of the next room. Somehow, if your neighbour flushes the toilet, or uses the shower, you can hear it in your room. Other than this tiny issue, this place is fabulous, which is why I have given it a 5 out of 5. There are antiques everywhere. I stayed in room 22.

“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

I'm at a loss to understand the negative reviews. This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever seen (and I have been around.) Low key, elegant, private, tranquil. Pure class. The staff is delightful, the food delicious. Pricey by Thai standards but a tremendous value when compared to similar hotels in other countries.

The bathrooms could use refreshing, but that is the only negative I can come up with.

Highly recommended.

“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2012

We stayed at the Rachamankha recently and found it to be perfect. It is peaceful and graceful, the rooms are tasteful and comfortable, the staff extremely accommodating and well-trained, and it has an unbeatable ambience. We look forward to staying there again.
