I stayed at the Bodhi Serene in Chang Mai while traveling around Thailand with a friend. The hotel is in a fantastic location, inside the city center and walking distance to everything. There are a lot of hotels in and around the Night Market, but I preferred this location, as it is closer to the temples and a quiet, respite from the hustle of Chang Mai. The hotel itself is very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The common areas are open to the outside, which was not an issue during my trip, but depending on the weather, could be hot. The bathroom was massive, as was our room. The room overlooked the inner courtyard, which was pretty, but presented a bit of a problem when trying to sleep due to the massive of amorous frogs. All night long, the frogs sounded... it was a bit maddening. It wasn't every night, but at least two where restful sleep was quite challenging.
Other than that the only other 'complaint' I has was the complimentary breakfast was a bit boring and standard. But the restaurant at the hotel was actually an undiscovered gem. The food was better than some of the higher rated restaurants listed in the guidebook and we ended up going several times during our stay.
The pool was not massive, but perfectly adequate for the hotel and great for a refreshing dip after a day of sightseeing. Additionally, booking tours through the hotel was great, they had good options and were priced really well. They can help you at almost anytime, so that worked out well when we decided to do a last minute trip.
Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. It is a clean, comfortable oasis in the middle of Chang Mai and priced better than other hotels of similar standard.
