“This is a small independently owned hotel...”

Villas spacious, very clean, bed massive & comfortable, maybe a bedside table could be good, but otherwise no complaints with accomodation. Exellent service by all staff from the manager to the gardener however Su in particular goes beyond normal expectations in helping you to have the best stay not just at the hotel but on Koh Samui...Dined here on three evenings and two lunches, breakfast is included, not disappointed at any time as the food is really good, by hotel standards the food & drink prices are very reasonable. On the edge of Lamai in a quiet location the beach & shops are all easily walkable. Overall found everyone on this small island very friendly and would return!!!

Room Tip: Only a few villas & all quite private

“Absolutely wonderful!”

From the moment you arrive, you are made to feel special at Montra; from the greeting at reception to the fruit basket in the room, this place is very special.
The room is very large and is spotlessly clean. The bathroom is also very big and has a huge bath as well as a shower. The toiletries provided are of a very high standard and are re-stocked daily.
The breakfast was huge and delicious, and the staff made you feel as though it was no hassle to bring you more.

The only downside was the location, being quite far away from Lamai Town however for relaxation this place is perfect and we are hoping to return again this year!

“The best place we have ever stayed”

We stayed at Hotel Montra in June last year on our honeymoon. We feel guilty not to have written our review until now, but just wanted to let everyone know what a wonderful place this is to stay. The setting is absolutely perfect - peaceful gardens, idyllic pool - all beautifully looked after. The villas themselves are very luxurious and spacious. The food at the restaurant, which is also available to be brought to your villa, is outstanding. The best thing about Monta is the staff - they made our stay so comfortable, knowing exactly the balance of looking after guests but allowing them privacy and space.

The island itself is a great place to explore, and Montra is positioned so you can travel easily right round the island on the open topped group taxis which are fun! Don't accept the first price you are given for these - you can definitely bring it down, even if not to local rates!

We would really recommend Montra as a place to stay, the prices are incredibly reasonable for such a magical place and the staff will certainly not let you down.

“Lived up to expectations!”

After reading numerous glowing reviews about this hotel we felt we had to try it. And yes, it is really good! Excellent service, very friendly staff, clean and well maintained rooms. They are also happy to drive you down to Lamai and later pick you up (free before 5pm, then 120 THB).

The Thai food we tried at their restaurant was the BEST we've had in Thailand, highly recommended! Even if you're not staying at the hotel, the restaurant itself is worth a visit.

Before booking however, please be aware that there will be no beach and no scenic view. The hotel is located maybe 1km from Lamai. When we tried to walk to Lamai a bunch of stray dogs were barking and started running towards us, so we ended up returning to the hotel. This is of course not the hotel's fault, so just be aware of these things before booking and you'll have a great time at Montra!

Room Tip: It's probably not worth paying extra for the more expensive rooms with "direct pool access...
