stayed there in july for 3 weeks the room was ok cleaned everyday with clean sheets and towels, high light of this hotel was the restaurant down stairs the boss alan good guy helpful and supplied good food never left anything on my plate anyway!! breakfast was big and reasonable in price, quality of food was good , you can get cheaper but eh you pay for what you get and i cant complain about any of the foods quality and preportions, the daily specials are one to keep your eye on and the soups are great, if alan is still there when i go back pattaya i shall stay there again

i was stuck for somewhere to stay as the hotel i normally use was fully booked so i tried this place around the corner i lasted 2 nights and just had to move on
linen and towels very clean but that is the only thing i can say good about this place the rooms were terrible noisy with a selection of bugs as for the people that say they never saw any i would say (you should have gone to specsavers) as for the food i tried it have had better nothing special the good thing about eating there is the bar manager have never seen him sober
bar staff are very friendly except one that thinks she is a pimadonna the rest are very nice especially the one called Ying all i can say is WOW as for staying there again sorry would sooner use Salvation army yeah its that bad

“One of the best value places to stay in the B400-B700 range.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2010

Over the past 20 years I've lodged at scores of establishments in Patts and this place for what you pay in comparison to it's near neighbours comes out on top.
My room was spotlessly clean, quality bed linen, odourless. Some street noise.
Standard British fayre in the coffee shop, the limited Thai menu I found to be of a very high standard.

“Now for the bad news. . .”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2010

I've been traveling to Thailand for three years now and I have stayed in many hotels in Pattaya and Bangkok and I know a good hotel (by Thai standards) when I see one . . .
I know several friends of mine who have stayed at The Coins and even recommended it. So when I was asked for 3300 baht for one night to stay elsewhere I decided that it was time to give it a try.
The hotel is in a good central location and on a main thoroughfare with baht buses readily available. There is a ground floor restaurant which is popular with British tourists and ex-pats alike and prices are reasonable.
Now for the bad news. . . My room on the second floor was apparently separated from neighboring rooms by cardboard walls and an even thinner door. If listening to other guests' nocturnal activities floats your boat then this is not all bad news I guess.
The bathroom was home to a several colonies of insects but only had cold water. The bed felt like sleeping on a baht bus floor and the curtains smelled so badly of stale cigarettes that even the mosquitos that live in there probably had lung cancer.
I stayed for three days and ate eggs for breakfast in the restaurant twice. On both occasions, I was ill four hours later (I tried twice as the food was highly recommended and I just couldn't believe it).
In conclusion, my friends apparently have lower standards than I do, no sense of smell and cast iron stomachs. If your budget will not stretch past £12 a night in peak season then consider it. . . Otherwise, Avoid!

“Super staff but dishonest chambermaid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2009

I am currently staying at the 18 coins hotel
Good value for money
Friendly and helpful reception staff
Clean room and linen every day
Apart from the rooms being a bit small - everything is great and good value for money
Big Problem - The chambermaid on 4th. floor is a petty thief and although I have twicw reported her to management , they are unwilling to act.
It reall is a shame because without this problem - the hotel would be excellent - both for comfort and value
