Perfect location in Hanoi, it in a quiet little lane near the big church which is the ideal drop off point that every taxi driver knows! Lots of street food and little cafes with Vietnamese food nearby as well as plenty of restaurants with western food. The old quarter is just around the corner!

The rooms are big and roomy with all of the facilities you need including a computer and are always clean. Free breakfast offers simple Vietnamese and western menus and you can certainly get plenty to eat.

But the best part of this hotel is the service. Everyone is very pleasant and helpful, especially. Martin who is a delightful young man and seems to be at reception 24/7. He is always there to greet and farewell you for the day, is extremely friendly, has a great sense of humour and will help with anything asked.

Great value for money!

Spent 4 nights here in Feb 2012, fantastic service and great price. Marty McFly, the receptionist/manager, is extremely helpful. He not only acted as a translator at the local police station but also helped us organise tours. Absolute champion. We received a free upgrade to the deluxe room which was great and the hotel is centrally located with all necessary amenities. Would definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed at the Splendid Star while in Hanoi in February 2011. We had a great stay and awesome service. After we were orginally booked into the hotel next door, which must have been joined with the Splendid Star, we were told that they would like to upgrade us to a better room at the newer hotel next door. After seeing the room they were putting us in, we were surprised at how nice the room was after we had payed not much at all. The hotel was down an alley way that was a little misleading as you werent sure where you were going, but it was out of the way of all the noise and distractions. It wasnt too far from the motel into the main drag, only a few minutes walk, which we were quiet happy to do as we were able to explore Hanoi on our way in.

After one uncomfortable night in the cathedral district of Hanoi, an early morning decision to change hotels proved inspirational. Check-in at the Splendid Star 2 consisted of a thorough induction from Martin followed by a complimentry coffee of excellant quality. For the duration of a nine day stay in Hanoi the service at this establishment did not waver. Clean and comfortable beds, quality showers, cable TV and fantastic room temperature control surely make the Splendid Star 2 one of Hanoi's very best mid-range accommodation options. Arguably the hotels biggest asset however, is chief concierge Martin. This young go-getter is very nearly always on hand to assist with complicated travel arrangements, restaurant advice or simply making a coffee after a long day negotiating hanoi's frantic streets. In short, the Splendid Star 2 will not disappoint.
