“In the middle of the centre of Hanoi”

This hotel is very good. When we arrived the staff welcomed us with a drink (mmm mango juice) and they brought us to our room. It is a small room but it has everything you need. The bed is very comfortable. The breakfast is good! The price for this hotel is reasonable. I would book this hotel again if I go back to Hanoi! For me it was perfect.

“Best hotel in Hanoi”

Went to Hanoi in June 2011 with a friend for 4 days. Fantastic priced hotel, the room was massive and very clean. The bathroom was very nice and roomy. The Hanoi air in June is very humid and nights were sticky and enlivened by the usual whirring air con. Free fruit and water everyday, fridge, safe and laptop to use to browse for free in your room plus a TV with movies and whatnot available! There were books on site to read in moments of boredom, the breakfast was nice- dont ask for tea- you cannot get decent English style tea with milk outside um, England. Its very central and close to all sorts of good eateries and tourist hot spots. Its miles from the airport but so is everything else. The staff were very keen to try their English on us and took very good care of us and fended off bad taxi drivers. Would definitely 100% recommend for all sorts of travellers.

“Hard to leave...”

We have stayed at 50+ hotels in our 5 ½ month Southeast Asia trip and I’ve given many ‘Very Good’ ratings but few ‘Excellent’ ones. This one deserves it. The staff are fantastic and could not be any better. The receptionist is like a mom - she cares so much about the guests’ safety and enjoyment and the manager is always asking for feedback. He has a great sense of humour too.

Beds are super comfortable, hot water is HOT, there are two pillows each, fresh fruit, tea and coffee in room daily, TV with a file of free movies, breakfast is made to order and you can have as much as you want, WIFI connection is excellent, etc. etc. etc. If guests ignore the quiet signs going up the stairs then there can be a noise issue early in the morning; other than that, it’s quiet.

Staff let you know what’s available in terms of tourist activities but there’s no pressure to book anything. We did the Dragon’s Pearl Halong Bay cruise for 2N/3D and highly recommend (see tripadvisor review).

Staff surprised us with a cake and card for our anniversary. We ate at Green Mango and Tamarind (both good but a little pricey), KOTO which was excellent, and a small cafe for Bun Ca (ask the hotel). Reception is great at recommending places. If you want to stay here, book ahead, this place books up FAST. We stayed here for a total of 8 nights and it was very hard to leave. See blog waiaway.blogspot.com for further information.

“Deservedly best hotel in Hanoi, best customer service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

This hotel may look modest from the outside, but don't let that deceive you! It's a welcome oasis of calm in this bustling, chaotic city. The rooms are really clean, comfortable and good value, with yummy fresh fruit, great power shower and a laptop if you need to use the internet. But what sets this hotel apart is the really top notch, superb staff here who go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay. They are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.

We had arranged for to go for a cruise in Ha Long Bay for a couple of nights and were not only allowed to leave our luggage there, but also take a shower on our return. I managed to leave a bag of gifts at the hotel and only noticed when arriving in Da Nang. I spoke to the Customer Service Manager, Mr Vu Duy Thang, who made sure it got to me safely the next day.

I would also recommend the food at the sister hotel just round the corner if you are arriving late.

“Excellent hotel”

We stayed here in September. We spent one night here, a night aboard a junk in Halong Bay, and then a second night at Hanoi Elite. We were able to leave our bags in our room when we left for the junk and they stored them for us until we came back. When we came back from Halong Bay, our bags were in our new room along with a surprise birthday cake. We had not mentioned that it was my wife's birthday, but they obviously noted it, probably from the passport photocopy. The room also had flowers added to it. It was a very nice touch and demonstrated their level of service. We also started looking for a restaurant featured in Anthony Bourdain's show No Reservations. They helped us find the restaurant contact information, make reservations and then gave us a map with directions. Again, top notch service.

Both rooms we stayed in were great and made for a comfortable stay. The included breakfast was good and if you were really hungry you could get multiple dishes. The only two negatives I can think of are that there is no elevator (not a problem for us, but could be for some). Secondly, any taxis or shuttles stop at the end of the alley instead of in front of the hotel. The hotel staff will take your bags to the shuttle or taxi for you and wait with you to make sure you get it, so they do everything they can to mitigate it. Other than that, the location is great, right in the old part of town and walking distance to most of the sites.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and, if we make it back to Hanoi, will definitely stay again.
