“Best place we've stayed”

My partner and I've been traveling in south east Asia for a few months and this was by far the best place we've stayed! We have paid much more and received much less. The room was spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The pillows were amazing and it was no issue to get a couple more. The shower pressure was fantastic and the free wifi was great! The breakfast buffet was good too with eggs cooked fresh anyway you like them plus fruit and the usual pastries etc. The location is great, nice and close to plenty of good restaurants.

“loved this place!”

My cousin and I just returned from a 3 week backpacking trip in SE Asia. We usually cut costs by staying in cheap places in the beginning and staying at nicer places towards the end for a nice shower and a good sleep. We only stayed here for 1 night but enjoyed it. The part that sucked was we got in at 5:00am from the overnight Sapa train, and we weren't allowed to check in until 2:00pm. He wouldn't even let us check in an hour or two earlier. They are able to keep luggage in a secure closet and he allowed us to sleep on the couch in the pool table room. Hotel is located walking distance from everything. It has good security as the security guard sleeps in front of the entrance of the door. Since the place is fairly new, it is very clean. There is a nice tv with a good amount of english stations. They also have a hot water maker with tea and coffee. They give the little travel knick knacks such as shampoo and soap. There is a laptop in the room with internet. We initially had difficulties connecting but he was able to fix it within a few hours. The buffet breakfast is also really good, offering a variety of foods. It is 3 USD if you don't have a room and free if you stay a night. They also offer a good map (if ask). But don't go by their food suggestion places because they are often more expensive. Staff was able to arrange airport drop off but it is more expensive than a regular taxi. It was 18 USD per cab and all other places are 12 USD. It was also a little weird because there were 2 girls that left a note under our door asking if they could jump in the cab with us. They said that the staff said it was "too late" to order a cab when they asked the evening before. I really enjoyed this place and would definately recommend it.

“Excellent boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Stayed at this hotel in Jan, booked it for its convenient location in the old quarter just north of Hoan Kiem lake.
Very small hotel, but convenient for walk around and food in the old quarter. Also, very attractive rate of about 35USD when we booked it on the expedia site.
Old quarter is rowdy and crowded, but then this is real Hanoi, not the posh and more hygienic condition of the French Quarter ( where getting food may be a bit of a problem)
Will definitely recommend someone to stay here who wants to see the real Hanoi.
Rooms are small but clean, amenities are modern, with new TV and electronic locking doors, laptop with free internet connection in the room, which is really convenient.
Breakfast is good and sumptious for a hotel of this size, buffet style that really feeds you well.
Staffs are efficient and friendly, most staff speak good English.
The only setbacks are : we got rooms at the back of the hotel, then again, it could be because the rooms were for discounted rate through internet sale. Smell of cooking food permeates the building and could get into the room, due to poor ventiation and small size of the premises.
All in all, very worthwhile and convenient stay.

Room Tip: ask for rooms at the front of the building.

“Very good Hotel....But great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The staff were great and very very helpful. The room was spacious and clean with modern bathroom. It was the first place we stayed at before starting our Vietnam trip.. and it was so comfortable. One of the best things about it was the location, it is in the centre of the old city. Good breakfast too. Thanks May de ville Hotel

“Spacious room at the cramped Old Quarter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

May de Ville Hotel was our last hotel of our whole Vietnam journey. We expected the small room that's typical Vietnam down-town hotels. But we arrived late from Halong Bay trip and greeted with free-upgrade to Family Rooms (1 double bed + 1 single bed). The bathroom has whirpool tub.

The location was very close to night market along HangDao Str and purchased some silk scarves at a very cheap price.

It's also within walking distance to anywhere including the Hoan Kiem Lake. THe hotel staff will assist you in finding taxi should you need one. They even arrange car to drive us to airport (1 hr + away from hotel) on the day of departure at the average cost.

Room Tip: Family ROom is spacious. It's close to elevator but not as noisy as the other hotel we've be...
