“Wonderful hotel, very friendly and helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Stayed for two nights before a trip to HaLong bay and one afterward. Had a view of the cathedral through a few buildings in the old quarter. When I asked for a good restaurant recommendation was given a map with great directions to a nearby restaurant. The room itself was beautiful with a great bathroom. They were willing to store my luggage while I was on a 2 night cruise to HaLong bay.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on an upper level facing the cathedral another guest was telling me the other side...

“Credit to the team working here !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel. Room on the highest floor (6th) facing the Cathedral. Room was clean and comfortable. Everything works. It was cold in Hanoi last week during Tet. Heating was not that good but small problem as once you settled in under the blankets, everything is well.

Not much traffic noise. However early in the morning at about 5 to 6 am in the morning, church bells are too much for me, a light sleeper. to top it off, a rooster from the opposite block were crowing early in the morning. a bit of advice to those light sleeper, ask for rooms facing the opposite of the church.

2 weeks prior to departure, emailed the hotel to confirm my booking and arrange the airport pick up. efficient as all were responded in due time. Was picked up at the airport arrival gate and driven to the wrong hotel. Went to Hans Souchi 2. There were 2 person from the hotel waiting for us at the road side and promptly tell the driver to send us to their sister hotel. Hans Souci 4 is not visible from the main roads. it is located in a small alley. From the main roads, there are no signage that points to this hotel. 2 Guys met us at the main road and one of them, Xuan, took our bags and escorted us to the hotel/ short walk. For the airport transfer, we pay to the hotel not to the taxi driver. We paid US$18 from the airport to hotel. Arranged by the hotel. emailed in advance to them to make arragement.

Breakfast menu are limited to eggs, toast, pho with free flow of coffee and juice. it can get really busy as we encountered on the last day. a group of folks came in at 6am from Sapa and they were hungry kittens from their overnight train. the whole crew at the hotel were busy making breakfast for these folks and for those of us who were staying there. Orders got mixed up but who cares. Everyone was helping them help us get our breakfast. So if you have breakfast in the hotel, take into consideration the timing and give more time ahead of any trip you are taking. Xuan who works in the hotel as the bell boy, kitchen helper and the guy to go to for money changing, comes from another province and is currently studying and working in Hanoi. He is studying chinese. good chap who is so willing to chat with you and offer you suggestion on what to do and see. Another young lady, Yen, who works at the front desk and is also the cook (during emergency) deserve a lot of appreciation. Always chirpy and smiling. She brighten up any sunken soul from the chaos from the streets of Old Quarter.
Kudos to the team of people working here. Great job for your warm personality and good spirits. Whoever your boss is, he/she is very fortunate.

My last note:
This hotel is walking distance to the lake district and all the streets in the old quarter. However not easy to find. If you are lost, look for ways to get to the Catherdal. Make this your landmark and it will be easy. There are several eating places around this hotel so food is not any issue. There are rows of nice european restaurant and cafe facing the catherdal. One of the nights, we dined at this wonderful italian place.

/when you need taxi, ask the front desk to call one for you and they will pick you up from the end of the alley. Coming back, i would advise that you tell the taxi to drop you off at the catherdal than take a short walk back to the hotel.

“Beautiful little boutique hotel in the heart of the Old Quarter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

The little boutique hotel is ideally located in the old quarter of Hanoi. Everything is within walking distance and you can trully experience Hanoi at ease. The rates were reasonable. The rooms were well presented and very comfortable space. Not much of a view, but one can't expect such in Hanoi's old quarter. Breakfast was decent, cooked by the staff though one of the days, they were low in stock due to the Tet holidays.

Wifi had good connection with available pc to be use if you needed to. The staff is ever-ready to organise your stay as well, like the water puppet show. There are also very good restaurants nearby which were exceptional. Staff was always around to help you, get you things....couldn't thank them more.

“Excellent!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Hotel Sans Souci IV is less than a year old and is an excellent place to stay in Hanoi. The staff is FANTASTIC!! So kind, friendly, cheerful, and helpful. The breakfast choices are GREAT, and cooked to order. The rooms are CLEAN and SPACIOUS, with modern furnishings. The rooms facing the narrow street below provide a nice morning view of the quiet steetlife unfolding below. The rooms are EXCELLENT VALUE, and the location is very accessible to Hoan Kiem Lake, good restaurants, great shopping, and the Old Quarter. There are numerous travel agencies with a minute's walk of the hotel, but Hotel Sans Souci will also arrange excursions for you (at a somewhat higher cost). Loved staying here and would definitely stay again if returning to Hanoi.

“Not Your Typical $55 Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Although I wouldn't rave about it being the best hotel I've stayed in, but for that price range, it's comes pretty close to the top.

Clean, spacious, simple designed rooms with full amenities. Great breakfast made from scratch every morning. High speed wireless internet on all floors and in the perfect location in town- not to noisy as it's not located on the main road but a walking street alley, and a quick stroll to the best restaurants in Hanoi.

The best thing was definitely the courteous and attentive staff who were all very, very sweet and helpful. Everything was just a expected as raved about from previous reviews.
