stayed here as part of my mekong delta crusie trip. it was clean, cheap and cheerful. would recommend.
I had a little problem making reservation on line. Found out later from Xuan Mai Hotel that the websites on line were not theirs. I searched the TRIPADVISOR.COM forum and everything sailed through smoothly.
I agree with previous TRIPADVISOR's reviewers about this hotel: exellent services, friendly, clean and professional.
Ms. Nang really took care of us while we were there from make sure that we dont get robbed by taxis or even get our purses or jewelries snatched while touring the city on foot.
We were at the hotel during TET and though services around town were scarce and expensive, iy\t were not at Xuan Mai hotel.
Breakfast, the room, internet and other amenities were fine during this festival. The send-off to the airport was on-time as planned.
One advise to other travelers: don't come to Vietnam during Tet when services is at a stand still but prices are rocketting.
Located around the corner from "backpacker st" Warm friendly hosts, Duc the manager is excellent and will go out of his way to help you with info, advice etc. Rooms fairly basic but well appointed for a little hotel - got good aircon, ceiling fans, decent water pressure, TV bar fridge etc etc. Can be a bit noisy on the street at night but hey, this is HCM city and it never sleeps:) Breakfast included on a charming little outdoor area opposite the 4th floor. Secure, well run and trustworthy and friendly hosts. Will be back again
The lady on the front desk (who presumably owns/manages this place) is lovely and very hospitable but regrettably I feel I my stay here warrants a pretty lousy review.
We arrived in the early hours of the morning and stayed here for two nights in mid January. At $40 per night (web booking) it proved to be well over the market rate for HCMC (we stayed at a relatively quiet and equally nice and clean hotel nearby for $15 per/night for the next 3 nights). The room was fine - clean, quite functional and spacious enough - but noisy. There was some weird ventilation draft which amplified a slight breeze into a loud whoop eminating from the walls and it is situated near a nightclub that plays thumping music. It wasn't quite what I expected having read the reviews.
We didn't find out whether our rate was typical or just a prepaid web rate and has additional charges???
This appeared to be a family run establishment. The rooms are basic, but neat and tidy. The lady who I think runs the place was very friendly and provided me with useful advice. The hotel is situated in district 1 in the Back packer’s area, and so there is no shortage of places to eat and have a drink. The only downside was that the WiFi was not reliable and I found myself having to use the shared computer on the ground floor. This hotel is suitable for short stays and for the cost is well worth it.
