“Well-operated, clean place ... and breakfast with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

Hotel has three room types, superior, deluxe and standard. The deluxe type have windows on the side of the building so on the higher floors you have a perfect view over hcmc.

Plus nice breakfast included on top floor with panoramic view.

A great deal for the price. Well operated hotel, immediate answers to requests and room inquireries etc.

“Friendly and convenient to sights”

We enjoyed our stay here while in Ho Chi Minh City. Friendly and helpful staff, rooms were clean and had all the basics. The hotel is right in the middle of the main tourist area and within easy walking distance of most things. Adequate breakfast. You need a map in this city as it is easy to get lost in the maze of streets. Would stay here again

“In the heart of the cheap hotel area”

I had booked Mini 5 based on the Tripadvisor reviews. When I got there and checked in, I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed. I wasn't expecting luxury considering the price, but the reviews were so positive that I thought it would be a bit better.
Mini 5 looks like every other hotel along the street it's located in. It's a if the same architect had designed each one of them and merely named them differently.

The day of the checkout there was a problem. Their understanding was that I had booked the room but not paid for it. I had however paid for it online with a credit card, which in turn I had already paid for. Nobody in the hotel spoke English well, I of course, did not carry my credit card bill with me. Phone calls followed. In the end, the problem had been with Opodo.de: I had been charged, they hadn't gotten paid.

What I have to say for the management of the hotel is that they were very nice about it. I made a reservation for one night to come back two weeks later and deal with the problem. At the time of the checkout I was short of time and had a biking tour group waiting for me. They didn't make a fuzz and in a strange turn of events, I walked out with them not being paid.
The problem got solved while I was away, but I want to stress that they were very nice about it.

And for this reason, I would recommend this hotel.

The room was small and clean and had a safe, which is a good thing to have in Saigon. The breakfast seemed mediocre, but having stayed in another place along the strip of hotels, bravo Mini 5! And the two women preparing it were very sweet and helpful. The girls at the front desk were also friendly and helpful and the internet worked like a charm. Other than that, not much more to add.

Room Tip: A room without a window seems the same as one with. Without has a big window in the bathroom that ma...

“Decent accommodation, good price, convenient and easy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We stayed for 3 nights here in a double room. We chose the room with no windows as we didn't see the need for them, and the room was just as displayed and expected. It was clean, simple and fairly comfortable and the bathroom was the same. Daily make up kept the room clean while we were there.
Staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to extend our stay for a night, and they pointed us to places that we asked about and provided recommendations when we asked.
The location is very convenient. The street is busy and full of tourists (our room didn't convey that noise at least), however we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to so didn't feel stuck around the foreigners.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who looks for a comfortable place to sleep but isn't looking for fancy.

“Bed bugs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We checked in, hotel staff very friendly and helpful, provided street map etc. the rooms are fairly dated, but secure and we thought they were clean, it wasn't until we went to bed that we discovered the bed bugs that inhabited the bed. We promptly checked out and found a hotel on the same street for the same price, much newer and cleaner and minus the bed bugs.

Dear our valued guest,

Thank you very much for your kind feedback.
We are terribly sorry and sad that you are not happy and have checked out. For such improper room status with valuable communications and feedback from our dear guests, we always can arrange alternative rooms or equivalent arrangements.
Bugs sometimes travel with international travelers as they do not have chance to survive in the daily cleaning and monthly pest control procedure that is why you review would be different to others of our customer so far to us.

To avoid the spread, we appreciate that customer should be careful of the bugs travelling along. Your kind consideration and great cooperation is always appreciated..
We would commit to listen and serve our guest at most to make their stay the best experience at every moment.

Yours sincerely,
The management board of SAIGON MINI HOTEL group
