I had booked Mini 5 based on the Tripadvisor reviews. When I got there and checked in, I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed. I wasn't expecting luxury considering the price, but the reviews were so positive that I thought it would be a bit better.
Mini 5 looks like every other hotel along the street it's located in. It's a if the same architect had designed each one of them and merely named them differently.
The day of the checkout there was a problem. Their understanding was that I had booked the room but not paid for it. I had however paid for it online with a credit card, which in turn I had already paid for. Nobody in the hotel spoke English well, I of course, did not carry my credit card bill with me. Phone calls followed. In the end, the problem had been with Opodo.de: I had been charged, they hadn't gotten paid.
What I have to say for the management of the hotel is that they were very nice about it. I made a reservation for one night to come back two weeks later and deal with the problem. At the time of the checkout I was short of time and had a biking tour group waiting for me. They didn't make a fuzz and in a strange turn of events, I walked out with them not being paid.
The problem got solved while I was away, but I want to stress that they were very nice about it.
And for this reason, I would recommend this hotel.
The room was small and clean and had a safe, which is a good thing to have in Saigon. The breakfast seemed mediocre, but having stayed in another place along the strip of hotels, bravo Mini 5! And the two women preparing it were very sweet and helpful. The girls at the front desk were also friendly and helpful and the internet worked like a charm. Other than that, not much more to add.
