“Pleasant but not memorable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012 via mobile

Thia hotel has great facilities with a swimming pool on the top floor with a great albeit smoggy view. The health club on the third floor allowed us to shower prior to our late night flight even though we needed to check out and store our bags at noon. Fabulous buffet breakfast is included in the room rate. Close to the zoo/botanical gardens. Short cab rides to everywhere. Only a $6 US cab to airport.

“Very average for that category”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

Some rooms have an obstructed view (511 for instance) with a small window. Restaurantl is below average for top prices, really surprising in a city with so many good and affordable places, convenience store is grossly overpriced, as there are none in the immediate neighborhood.

The best thing to do if not too hot or not raining is to walk towards Opera for food and convenience store.

The wifi is working but very slow. At least you don't have to pay extra for that.

The swimming pool on the floor is nice. The gym is on the other hand is not worth the visit

“Rooms too Small”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

Stayed in Exec Floor. Corridor leading to the room from the lift landing is too dark. The fragrance that they used is not my liking. Smells like going to a SPA or health club.
Exec lounge has very limited selection of F&B. The nicest is the view from the Exec lounge which overlook the city skyline. Very relaxing and confortable.
Room was small. Need to squeeze around. Bed is too soft. Did not really have a good sleep on that night.

“5 Star Hotel in Embassy Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2012

The Sofitel Saigon Plaza is a modern luxury hotel located in the embassy area, The rooms are very comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient.

Rooftop pool very relaxing.

Breakfast was not included in our room rate - the breakfast buffet was pricey.

We inquired about hotel transfers from the airport. Luckily I checked TA and found the taxi fee to the hotel was about $10.00 compared to the hotel's limo at $58.00!

Only negative might be the lack of restaurants in the immediate area.

“Its a good stay if you dont have high expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2012

I have stayed here in November for a week and in February 2012 for another week for business trip. Occupancy rate is also quite high with tourists mainly.
The hotel lobby is nicely decorated with palms, orchids and candles at night. It gives a cosy feel to the hotel. There are only 2 restaurants. Breakfast spread is good, especially the selection on cereals, nuts and fruits. However, the service at the coffee house is very poor. You have to call for coffee multiple times and sometimes they just leave it there for you to help yourself. The waiter dont even bother to see if there is milk.

Nothing much around the hotel unless you are willing to walk, at least 10 minutes walk for restaurants. Hotel offers a shuttle service to Ben Thanh market and town center. They would oblige to use the hotel cars to send you but you need to pre book 30 minutes ahead.

Hotel rooms are spacious and bed is nice. Different types of pillows are provided for different positions of sleeping. You can request for a demo for this too. Currency exchange is available at the hotel, without any commision charged. Rate at the hotel is better at the hotel, taking into account you dont have to pay the 3% fee charged at the airport.

Its a good hotel for business travels.
