“Great hotel but not the cheapest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2012

I travel to Saigon for work a few times a year and Park Hyatt is one of the hotels I've stayed at in the past. I've also stayed at New World hotel and Caravelle hotel, and Park Hyatt is by far my favourite. My feel is that it is a real five-star hotel in Saigon unlike the other two which I would classify as four and half at best. Park Hyatt is conveniently located right next to the famous Saigon Opera House, not far from Caravelle hotel. It is within walking distance to most famous landmarks including the War Remnants Museum, the Reunification Palace and the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica. The service at the hotel was very good and their breakfast decent. With so much great street food in Saigon, you should probably not eat at the hotel anyway. While it was all great at Park Hyatt Saigon, the price is on the very high side, even compared with hotels like Caravelle and New World. So, if you have enough $$$ to splurge, it is highly recommended.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the Opera House.

“The most luxurious hotel in Saigon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2012

We stayed here in Jan, 2012 and it was great! The most luxurious hotel in HCM City (Saigon).
We had a great time, easy to walk around, great services!

Wine selections at Italian restaurant were amazing!

Room Tip: All rooms are great!

“Calm, discreet and sophisticated amongst the wonderful confusion of Saigon”

What a great place Saigon is! Probably don’t want to stay over for more than 3 nights – but what food, sights, noise and mopeds!!!

And right within in, in the centre is the Park Hyatt. Now we have to admit we love the Park Hyatt chain – Tokyo is fab, Dubai is understated when everything else is over the top and Ho Chi Minh City is fab too. We had the entry level room which was a decent size, nice bathroom and all the usual things we expect.

We had dinner at Square One which had a great range of Vietnamese food and western steak menu and was buzzing – clearly a place to be and be seen! Just across the road in a semi secret courtyard is Hoa Tuc (74 Hai Ba Trung) well worth a visit for lunch as is Quan An Ngon (160 Pasteur) but we weren’t impressed with the Temple Club.

And free wifi which is more and more important…

“A safe choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

The Park Hyatt in Saigon is a very comfortable, luxurious hotel, and a safe choice in Saigon. It lives up to its 5 star rating and considering its a large chain hotel, offers an authentically Vietnamese hotel experience in Saigon, with its elegantly dressed girls in their long silk tunics at the desk, the lovely antiques and the soaring shutters in the large lounge area. There is a very pleasant pool area, and the restaurant Square One was great. The rooms are generically comfortable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the gardens as we had - I imagine the rooms overlooking the street would...

“Tropical oasis in the middle of the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

The best thing about the Park Hyatt is the landscaped gardens and pool area. We also stayed for 3 nights at the Intercontinental Asiana Saigon on the same trip, which was equally good in many ways - but not the pool area.

The gardens and pool at the Park Hyatt are like this serene haven which allows you escape the hustle and bustle of the thousands of motorbikes just outside the door. All is quiet and restful, leafy and the gorgeous pool is the central focus. We stayed here for 2 nights, even though it was considerably more cost than the other hotels, and we don't regret it one bit. By day 4 and 5 in HCM city we had done most of the sight-seeing and were content to take a breath and plonk by the pool with a book. So relaxing. You couldn't do that at other hotels in HCM city because their pools are squashed into a small area on the top of the building, not the same as being surrounded by gardens!

The Vietnamese restaurant on the 1st floor is called Square One and it just won the award for best Vietnamese restaurant in all of Vietnam - not a bad effort! We were treated to a gastronomic feast with wine included by the executive chef, Asif, who went out of his way to make up for a bad experience we had the previous evening at the Italian restaurant on the ground floor called Opera. Do yourself a favor and book into Square One. AMAZING food!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor and you will get a better view of the pool area over the trees
