“Home away from home!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2012

The staff, rooms and ambiance at the 252 make it a perfect place to escape from the busy streets in PP. The hotel is located in a great area - away from the touristy riverside area and in the cute expat Independence monument area with a short walk or $1 tuk tuk ride to nearby activities. Great dining, supermarkets and shops within a block. Rooms big spacious with balconys.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a lower floor (2nd or higher) with a balcony overlooking the pool.

Great little oasis in the midst of chaotic Pnohm Penh. Rooms were large, clean with modern decor, and pool was beautiful. Food was fantastic as well. Staff also very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!!

“Good but not Exceptional”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

The room was large. The bathroom was large. Strange water problem where the shower flow would cease to a drip and then regain strength. Included breakfast was great. Pool area was nice. Overall, very clean. Think you could get better for what you pay. Stayed at Monument Hotel in the same area for much less and would recommend that hotel over this one. But if I didn't have that hotel to compare 252 I would probably have enjoyed 252 more.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to read that you did not fully enjoy your stay with us. The remark with the water is an issue that happens from time to time only and it comes from the city pipelines. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do from our side, but as mentioned, it only happens from time to time.

“The 252…..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2012

Entrance to the 252 hotel is weird, if you don’t arrange a pick up at the bus station or airport and go there on your own, you’ll definitely get lost. The hotel has a closed gate where the site across is having a construction going on. The signage in front is not clear. The person in front of the gate opens the gate for you and the first thing you see is swimming pool where you’ll think you were coming in from the back door entrance. This is the front entrance, on the left of the pool is the restaurant where you take your free breakfast and also serves lunch and dinner. After the pool is the reception, here you can also arrange for your tour and transport. The hotel staff and the people in Phnom Penh in general are friendly but not as friendly as the people in Siem Reap.

The room is big, ceiling is high and I like the way they did it, everything is concrete! The table is concrete, the bed base is concrete, the headboard is concrete, the wardrobe cabinet is concrete, and the chair is the only one which is not because you’ll have a hard time moving it. The only thing I didn’t like was that they didn’t paint them, it is still in their dull raw concrete colours which may be what they planned and my son liked it, but if you ask me, I would have preferred that they painted them in lively colours like yellow for the headboard, brown for the bed base, blue for the table and maybe green for the wardrobe. The hotel also comes with free wireless internet access in your room and the pool and restaurant area.

Overall, I’ll give this a 4.5. Reommended.

“Perfect end to our trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

people found this review helpful

This was our last hotel after travelling through Laos & Cambodia and we found it a perfect way to end our trip. The street setting didn't look too promising (a lot of building work) but inside was a little oasis. A lovely swimming pool, with most comfortable surrounding booths, a friendly bar/restaurant area, with excellent breakfasts, plus spacious and well thought out rooms, left us wishing we were staying a few more nights. We voted the shower the best of the trip! You could hire a tuk tuk for half day/day from the hotel and we found this an excellent way of getting round without the hassle of having to 'bargain' for fees. This is a little gem in a busy city - but book early, it's very popular!

Room Tip: Ask for one with a balcony (if not fit not on the 3rd floor!)
