“The best hotel in Cambodia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2012

You are treated like royalty in this beautiful historical hotel. It is run and staffed by some of the best in the industry who seem proud to work here. I loved every second of my quick 24 hour stay here and can't wait to come back. Phnom Pehn is recovering well from many years of hardship and as yet seems relatively undiscovered by the masses. This hotel is a calm and serene oasis in the middle of a bustling and hectic city with an attention to detail and level of service that is impossible to fault.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with pool view and give yourself some time to enjoy this hotel.

“A wonderful Oasis in a buzzling place”

It was my first trip to Cambodia and I wanted to make sure that at least my hotel gives me comfort. Well, Cambodia is a great place, like I found out, and the Raffles Le Royal is probably the best place to start your discovery of Phnom Penh and its surroundings. Rooms are brand new and spacious (bathrooms are a bit small though), service is superb and the pool area is a very unique place with the hotel built around old trees (the back part of the hotel was built in the 90ies or so whereas the 'old' part was built in the 20ies). Overall a great hotel with very reasonable prices (we paid between 120 -150 US$/night). Very recommendable

Room Tip: Rooms from 1st floor upwards are quieter.

“Wonderful hotel”

Just perfect - we were picked up at the airport by a corteous and safe driver, got a nice room, met the very knowledgeable guide the hotel had booked for us, enjoyed our drinks at the Elephant bar (the best Singapore Sling I ever had - thank you!), benefitted from the efficient concierge service. Staff was very friendly and well-trained, management was always accessible.

“A step back in time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

Wow, what a great experience. Pre arrival transport arrangements were efficient, and we felt like royalty upon arrival at the front door. Close to the city action, but by the pool you are in your own world. Dinner at Le Royal was an elegant experience that compares to a 3 star restaurant.

“Awesome staff and the most delicious waffles”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

The staff at this hotel are exceptional. They are by far the stand out feature of this hotel. They are very good at what they do, extremely personable, attentive and friendly and bring the hotel to life. The hotel has a beautiful lobby, relaxing atmosphere, a nice swimming pool area and classic rooms. The rooms have lovely wooden features, great toiletries and a super-massive TV! The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, the museli was lovely, fresh baguette and eggs also went down well but the star of the show was the waffle lady. She made the best waffle I've ever eaten in my life! My friend also recommended the pancakes. Coffee was luke warm but I could live with it. I recommend sitting outside as indoors was a bit hectic and not so relaxing. It would have been nice to have had a selection of newspapers available at breakfast for guests to read and some sparkling wine to make bucks fizz. Massage in spa was nice but be warned there were full-on-be-completely-naked parts. At a British spa your modesty would be preserved by strategic towel positioning but not always here! The biggest disappointment was the dinner. It was an 'all you can eat' buffet and really I should have know better than to opt for it but it was very average, as is often the case with 'all you can eat' buffets. That said, my friend had pasta from the a la carte menu but it had clearly been microwaved - it arrived too quickly, had a crusty top and big clouds of steam billowed out when it was disturbed. The chef was busy greeting guests out in the lobby, which is nice of him, but he would have been better taking care of matters in the kitchen I'd say. A hotel of this calibre should not be serving microwave pasta! Transfer to the airport worked well, nice comfy Mercedes Benz hotel car made it effortless. Manager was also very visible throughout our stay, we saw him regularly and had numerous opportunities to speak to him. I feel confident that any problems would have been dealt with quickly. Overall I can forgive this hotel any faults because it was such a relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable stay. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat and I hope I have the opportunity to stay there again one day!
