“Charming staff, Resources inadequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Although we arrived after lunchtime, our rooms were not ready for some time. One room had two chairs, the other had none. When a chair was requested, Reception said that it was "not normal" to provide chairs at the desk in each room. Internet access cost 10USD per day, but the service was very limited: sometimes it was not possible to get on line at all.
The hotel is a long way from the city centre, but there seemed to be few taxis and apparently no shuttle. The plumbing badly needs an overhaul: plenty of hot water, but malfunctioning taps and showers.
The staff were uniformly courteous and helpful.

“Good quality business hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Stayed four nights for a business trip in mid January. Good standard rooms. Hotel in very good shape. Good quality restaurant, with excellent breakfast. This is a developing country so you can´t expect everything always to be perfect, but the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Very easy to access by car, and only a couple of blocks off the Mekong river. City center within walking distance

Room Tip: Two top floors, rooms away from main street

“Overpriced shabby hotel with no benefits”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

We booked a superior room for three nights from december 22th on. The hotel is priced way over the top (€75,00 per night) excluding breakfast. The price for wifi is $ 10,00 per day. Thats's real stone age. All the cheap guesthouses offer free wifi!!
The superior room is the dullest room we ever encountered in a hotel of the presented class. A real Soviet communist architect lived it up to the edge. You even have live shows from the neighbours. Apperently there is a open gap behid the bedpost to the adjoining room. Not really swell.
And a last warning: you better take your showers fast, otherwise your days start with soap in your eyes, as hot water runs out fast. As if this hotel isn't a teayerker all by itself.

“room basic- outdoor areas nicer”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

stayed here after being redirected en route to luang prabang. 100 USD a night is a lot of laos. Confused reception staff, had booked online about 3 hours ago so had no printed copy. had to print copy off in business centre before they would even give us a room. of course, PC very slow!
Room basic, good shower and pretty good bed, TV working. Dinner at restaurant Ok, nothing special. open till 1030 but tried to tell us at 10 it was closed. breakfast not included which is ridiculous as 100 USD in laos is a lot. outdoor pool and gym area looked renovated and quite nice. free and fast transfer to airport which is near.
