“Good, but expected more...! Excellent staff made up for it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I stayed here on a business trip recently. When I arrived, I was pretty impressed by the outlook of the hotel. It was very classy and well-decorated. However, I was a little disappointed with the rooms. Understood that they were undergoing a renovation, and perhaps that's why we got one of the older rooms. The bathroom was not really a pretty sight, just simple, but not one of those luxury bathrooms leaving you wanting more (if you forget your toothbrush, be prepared to pay ALOT for one..! :P). But the beds were really really comfortable, and you could have a choice of cool pillows.

I guess I was expecting a little more, especially with the location. It was a little off from the main areas, like Myeongdong, or Dongdaemun. But really near the companies I had to visit. Business trip I guess.. Heehee! On the upside, COEX was just below us and so was the subway..!

However, I must admit that the staff and the excellent breakfast buffet really made up for it. I wanted to take a trip out to a place that was a little far off. The language barrier was quite bad, but the conceirge, Peter, went out of his way, to ensure that I could get there, get to somewhere central after that, and come back safely. It was so memorable! The next most memorable thing, omg, you've got to try their smoked salmon at breakfast.

It was a good stay!

Room Tip: If you're splurging, try out the suites, wonderfully spacious and beautiful!

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your comments and feedback after your recent stay with us here at the InterContinental Seoul Coex.

Our location is on the Southern side of the river which tends to be more modern than the Northern side, but like everywhere, depends on what you are looking for.
Having said that there certainly are some cultural and historical places such as the Bongeunsa Temple, located across the street, and the very famous Samneung Park, which has one of the Royal Tombs and with direct access to areas such as the COEX Mall, the Duty Free store & Casino this certainly makes for a convenient stay.

As you have mentioned, during your visit we were upgrading our rooms and am pleased to say that we are receiving many favorable comments in relation to the new style and décor.
I do hope that you will get the opportunity to return to Seoul and experience the improvements sometime in the near future.

I was very pleased and proud about you highlighting the friendliness and attention that all our team here at the InterContinental Seoul Coex display in our attempt to make your stay here in Seoul a pleasant and memorable one. I will certainly pass on your comments to all the team but especially Peter who helped you out with directions and taxis.

Once again thank you for your favorable comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to the InterContinental Seoul, Coex.

Best Regards,

“Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Coex Intercontinental seemed a very classy hotel, but probably also quite expensive. I don't exactly know, because i've been there invited on a business travel. A bottle of wine there was close to 50 dollars, and for an average breakfast i paid more than 30 dollars. So, the prices are quite high. But i must admit that the conditions there were great and the staff very kind. Also, i recommend to ask at the hotel for taxis as they are careful who they pick. And in town there are few taxis with drivers that speak english. The location didn't seem quite outstanding but you do have there Coex Mall, and all that. Plus, across the street there is a very nice temple that everybody should see.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your favorable comments and feedback after your recent stay with us here in Seoul.

Our location and direct access to areas such as the COEX Mall, the Duty Free store & Casino are a great advantage for staying with us and certainly makes for a convenient stay.
The Temple across the street is Bongeunsa, this is one of Koreas most famous temples and we certainly recommend if time permits for all our guests to take some time to explore this landmark.
The level of English with the taxis here in Seoul is mixed however as pointed out by yourself, our staff are here to assist and the concierge desk can write and guide the taxis not only to you desired location but also help in getting you back to the hotel again.

I was very pleased and proud about you highlighting the friendliness and attention that all our team here at the InterContinental Seoul Coex display in our attempt to make your stay here in Seoul a pleasant and memorable one and we hope that should you return to Seoul you will again choose the InterContinental Seoul, Coex.

Thank you once again for taking the time to write your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back again sometime in the near future.

Very convinent if you are visiting Coex convention center. Coex mall just below the hotel is a great place to shop and eat. Excellent place to walk and have a good time. Perfect for a global business traveller.

“Business traveler haven in Korea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Have stayed in this hotel for as much as 45 days in 2011 and 10 days so far in 2012 on Business. One trip was for 21 of those days and service was outstanding during every one of the stays. The hotel does get fully booked, so early reservations are a must, there are several times during the year that the hotel is booked as much as a year in advance due to the proximity of the convention center connected to the hotel. they do accomodate relocations as needed if rooms are not available as there are 10 hotels in the proximity of the COEX. I would chose this one over those other hotels.

Room Tip: Book Early!

“Not outstanding but nothing to complain...”

Staying here the 2nd time for Business. 1st time during an exhibition in the COEX Seoul. Perfect since its is part of the COEX Mall and the COEX Exhibition Area. So no need to take a cab or go outside. It is internally connected so absolutely perfect for Business if you attend an Event in COEX...
Same like before, I am staying in a Clubfloor Room. Nice rooms, everything OK but not really new. Unfortunately the heater is blowing Sahara-Style winds even I set the A/C to 23°C. Also the "Toto-Waterspray-and-Cleaning-Part" of the toilet is not working. Heater and flush yes, but not the Korean gimmicks. Its ok but for 200€ per night I can expect it to work...
The Food (like everything else) in the Club-Lounge is nice.
Usually I would give this Hotel 3 instead of 4 Points because it is good but for an Intercontinental it is just average (I mean this as an compliment). The reason I give 4 Points is the Staff. I am travelling a lot but the staff in this Hotel is incredible. Everybody greats you, everybody who is in touch with customers speaks good english, you always see them smiling, you get help and support always from all sides. I never experienced something like that before in any other 5*Hotel.
Will stay here again when back in Seoul...

My apologies for not being able to rectify the issue with your room temperature during your stay as we do have a number of ways in trying to deal with the Korean winter and its effects..
