The Plaza is not normally my "type" as the room deco is a bit "trendy".... two big camera lights on each side, the king bed in the middle of the room, 20sqm standard room (real small), and all controls are in a touch screen box. However, I had a pretty good stay there.
Size: size does matter! But it's enough for two of us, I eat, drink, sleep, read all on the bed that I normally would not do at home (it's part of holiday!) My husband do his work on a 'desk' facing the city hall, pretty good actually.
Room (others): a little touch screen black box control lighting, temp, curtain, phone, almost everything except tv. Easy to understand but not easy to press on it, try few press on the same spot to make it work. Very good natural light from outside. Heating worked perfectly both in room and toilet seat (what a treat in winter!)
Room service: very efficient, food are still boiling hot when it come in front of you. Taste nothing special but ok to me (Korean noodles) not to my husband (not really happy w/ the pizza). Not cheap though.
Staff: all staff speak reasonable english, no communication problem. Staff in the Italian restaurant are very very nice and helpful. Food are pretty good w/ reasonable price. 2 pax with entree, main course, dessert and a bottle of wine cost US170. Most impt, good service.
Location: PERFECT!
Walking distance to subway, Myeongdong (10mins walk thro a underground shopping area. It's a tourist area, both cheap and middle price range. Street stalls both yummy local food and clothes started around 5pm everynite ).
Also got a map from hotel which direct you walking to Namdaimum (around 15 mins walk) where you could see all local hawkers selling clothes, food, shoes, fur etc. (they are local quality, not fancy style but cheap)
Get to the local subway in 1 min from the hotel. Taking Line 1 w/1000won (plus 500 ticket deposit) will take u to Dongdaimum in 10 mins train ride. This is a place for fancy, trendy, middle to up market clothes. Few big shopping centre there, I could only go for 2 in half day trip there (one is called Dotta), excellent place for shopping and eating especially in sale season, they are all half price!
The last but not least:
Breakfast: that is the worst ever from my experience.
Not much to choose at all. And not refilling when it's empty (including milk, just left the empty jug there until we asked them to refill it after waiting for 5 mins)
In conclusion, it's worth to stay there no matter for shopping purpose or business.
