First, I must say that the Park Hyatt is quite a good property with spectacular desk service and no glaring deficiencies, yet I found it a bit short on several counts relative to other properties that have earned such high marks on the Conde Nast Gold List, which joins TripAdvisor as a highly trusted source in choosing hotel stays.
Likes:
Warm and intuitive desk service
Airy rooms that maximize natural light
Generous amenities and daily fruit service
Aesop toiletries
Complimentary business center
Excellent culinary team and in-hotel dining options
Museum-like exhibit cases in corridors
Disappointments:
Too much street noise in room due to expansive use of glass
Room maintenance standards lacking with scratched floors and torn upholstery seams
Visibly dusty hallways
Attentiveness of restaurant staff was hit or miss
Less than ideal location for a leisure traveler
To the hotel's credit, they were very responsive to my room concerns and they noted that a room renovation program is beginning. Having found the rooms just slightly tired, I would for now return to the Westin Chosun due to its better location for leisure, better sleep quality, and typical price differential, especially since common areas at the Chosun were recently updated. That said, a class-leading room update could draw me back to the Park Hyatt and I am certain their efforts will be excellent and inviting.
