“perfect quality, service & food in eco-hip environment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

One of my best hotel experiences ever ! Located in the hip shopping environment of the foreign embassies in Beijing, The Opposite House impresses immediately upon arrival with its green-dominated architecture. The lobby is both huge and very arty. Service is perfect from first till last minute. The rooms are spacious and modern, but also cozy, I loved my big wooden bathtub. The food in the mediterrenean "Sureno" was very good, but I was blown away by both quality & service at the Japananese "Bei" with an attractive selection of Sake...

“Fantastic experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

Was recommend to go there, and did not regret it. This hotel is a mix of modern and traditional. It is funky. Had just a great time there during my 3 night stay. The service is great. If only every hotel in Europe could provide with the same level of service it would be very very pleasant.

“An Amazing Surprise in Beijing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

After staying in several hotels over staying six months in China last year, I avoided staying at The Opposite House to stay at Starwood Hotels in Beijing to earn points. I came back this week to TOH because each person I talked to who has been to Beijing recommended it... strongly. Now, I see that they are right.

Although, the outside attendants are a little slow to help, but inside the service is immediate. The foyer is very impressive and the art is always changing. The overall feeling is modern and warm, somehow.

The rooms are a white linen and light wood mix that is clean. The amenities (like a completely FREE mini-bar) are wonderful. There is easy and updated technology everywhere. The wood tub in the bathroom is unusual and beautiful.

It is hard to use a wealth of words to describe a place that is designed using so many excellent choices without sounding overblown. Just stay here. You will see for yourself.

“Fine, hip hotel in Beijing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

The Opposite House is a beautiful, modern hotel that opened just in time for the Beijing Olympics. The lobby is like no other that I have seen: a living room atmosphere with no real check in counter but lots of competent staff ready to help you. You walk through the door and are escorted to a couch. Soon someone arrives, iPad in hand, to check you in. All done in a very efficient and friendly manner.

The rooms are very well-designed with lots of nice touches like a wooden soaking tub in my room. The design is modern even though the floors and other aspects of the hotel look like recycled lumber and metal were used in the construction.

The Opposite House has an excellent pool and fitness center. The latter is underutilized and never crowded. It also has a spa which none of the people in my party used.

The hotel has multiple restaurants but, strangely enough, none of them serve Chinese food. It isn't really a problem since the hotel is located in an upscale neighborhood with plenty of good restaurants, Chinese and otherwise. The Opposite House does have a fine bar with many classic and innovative drinks and a very charming group of servers.

I have stayed at some nice places in Beijing. This one is not the most luxurious but it was the most comfortable and had the most efficient and warm staff.
