We stayed 7 nights at Michael's at the beginning of February and found this little gem wonderful. As other reviews point out, the rooms are comfortable and the staff is English speaking and superb. Breakfast is included, which is good and filling to get you on your way. Food choices in Beijing are overwhelming to say the least. If your wanting Chinese, the selection abounds in this area or you can venture by taxi to TA recommended sites. We also found a nice pizza place (Laker's) down the block which serves pretty decent fare at reasonable prices. All in all an enjoyable stay in Beijing, Michael's is a definite return location, highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights in January and had a great time. It's really close to the metro and there are some good restaurants just two minutes away. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are cosy and warm with plenty of space and the courtyard is great to relax in. Best of all were the staff. They were all so helpful and friendly and we spent many an evening just hanging out in the courtyard with them, playing hacky-sack! Thanks for giving us such a great experience in China!

Michaels was a great place for our family with 2 young children. The staff couldnt do enough to help us. The room was clean and we had enough room to sleep all of us. Its down an alley so away from the noise and i love its location. We we able to be a bit away from the tourists and see first hand what every day life is like. Each room faces onto the covered courtyard so we were able to let the children play while we could relax. The staff made the children very welcome. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and stay there again. Dont forget to get your destination written in chinese by staff for taxi drivers.

Charming, very well-organised hotel. Staff spoke English well and were all friendly, helpful and solicitous. Excellent facilities: comfortable and clean. Lots of thoughtful extras (e.g. complementary slippers to use in the room). Well heated (we were there in the depth of winter). The location - just north of the Houhai lakes - is good. Lots of interesting local street life (local restaurants, shops, pharmacies, street markets, supermarkets, banks etc) and close to a well-placed subway station (Beijing subway is excellent and very easy to use). Highly recommend this hotel.
