“Fantastic staycation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2012

We had one night at the Capella with our two daughters and all thought it was fantastic. Excellent pre check in service with telephone calls assisting with spa bookings, dinner reservations, early check ins. They arranged one room to be ready early so we could get there around 11am and my husband and I visited the spa which was bliss before an excellent lunch at their mediteranean restaurant. The bedrooms are stunning - we had premier seaview rooms - beautifully furnished, amazing full height windows with great views and lovely balcony and bathrooms. Spent the afternoon lazing by the pool and playing tennis - my only recommendation is that they upgrade the tennis rackets they provide. Lovely drinks before dinner in Bobs bar - very trendy and cool furniture, live band in background. Amazing dinner at Chinese restaurant, Cassia - excellent waitress who really knew the menu and could assist with our order. Went back to Mediteranean for coffee/pud as thats what the kids felt like. Breakfast excellent the next day and we were sad to leave in the end. Beautiful contemporary architecture around an old colonial building, great views, lovely service - expensive but well worth it. Was a bit miffed we had to pay the valet park as thought that would have been included and hadn't been told I think on arrival - they just whisked car and luggage away. Think they should just charge visitors not residents. Will definitely go back and it's probably now my top hotel in Singapore.

“Indulgence , and why not ?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012 via mobile

If you want to get away from the city pace, smog , traffic , noise , concrete - Then this is the place . Set amongst lush greenery with all yr modern amenities , Capella is a great stay . Great rooms , great pool , great lush greenery every where you turn .

Leave yr city expectations at the door as well when it comes to service . The staff are there , but perhaps not as quick footed as their counterparts in town . If you want to leave sentosa via a cab , be prepared for a wait as well . Then again , what's the hurry? You're here to enjoy this place for a reason , so, take a chill pill and relax ....

“another Singapore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

After a few visits of Singapore, you can become tired of a bustling, noisy city, that wants to be bigger and better than manhatten. Sentosa seems a godsent alternate with a (not too attractive) beach and pleasant recreation areas under shady tropical trees with ponds. A regular bus takes one to the city if necessary. The accomodation leaves nothing to be disired and matches the high hotel standards of Singapore. The garden restaurant with a view of the harbor at night is enchanting and the chinese cuisine, served from rich open buffets is a relish. We left after two nights, without complaints and a very good feeling about having booked this resort. But on returning I was miffed at finding a belated minibar charge on my credit card balance sheet for items we had not consume. Not a big amount, though, less than $100, but I resented that after having regularly checked out, my card number and signature on file was being used to throw any new charge at me. Suspecting an indelicassy,, I immediately contested the charge in writing, arguing, that in my age I would never dare sinking my teeth into a rockhartd oiece of near frozenToblerone chocolate, even for free ,and certainly not from a mini bar. The management was absolutely correct in the matter, informing me that the young receptionist had left them, (probably fired when his fiddling was discovered through earlier complaints) and the amount refunded to my credit card without delay. I can therefore still highly recommend it.

“Absolutely perfect”

This is a really special hotel.

We spent the first two nights of our honeymoon here, staying in a one bedroom garden villa, in January 2012. It was just what we needed after a stressful few months at work, planning and then having our wedding, and then stepping off a 12 hour flight from Europe.

Every aspect of the service we received in this hotel was flawless. One of their "personal assistant" team contacted me a few days before we left the UK to check our flight details, and ensured our room was ready when we arrived. They also gave us a complimentary late checkout (as our onwards flight to Australia was in the evening), which I thought was a very nice touch.

Check-in was just a breeze - they had iced tea ready for us to sip while our reservation details were confirmed (which took all of 30 seconds). Then we were escorted (on a golf buggy) to our villa, with our luggage following on another buggy.

To describe the villa as opulent, luxurious, wonderful, just doesn't do it justice. These rooms have to be seen to be believed. The villa has three large rooms (lounge, bedroom and huge bathroom), plus outdoor patio area, outdoor private plunge pool. Behind the bathroom there is also a dressing area, and outside the bathroom is an outdoor bath and outdoor shower. Since it was our honeymoon they also gave us a complimentary bottle of wine, and a handwritten note from the manager welcoming us and congratulating us on our wedding.

The room decor and furnishings were superb - see my photos for a better idea. Short of listing literally every fitting and feature, highlights included the multitude of towels; comfortable seats everywhere; mood lighting; complimentary (non-alcoholic) minibar, tea/coffee, free wifi, his and hers flip flops and slippers, two huge TVs, BOSE sound system, electronic blinds and curtains, the bedside control panel for aircon/curtains/etc, and of course the plunge pool and the outdoor shower. And the amazingly soft seat in the bathroom. And the multitude of high quality toiletries. And many other things too! They have considered virtually everything, providing amenities ranging from a writing kit (complete with pencil and sharpener if you'd rather not use the pens) to mosquito repellent (not that we needed to use it).

Moving from the room to the hotel itself, a few other points are worth noting. The library (which is everything you'd expect a modern, colonial style library to be, and a lot more) has complimentary tea/coffee/soft drinks and sweets available all day and night, and a complimentary high tea served every afternoon for a few hours. Most times we visited the library it was empty (bliss!) though one afternoon tea was quite busy. The personal assistants are based here too; we found them extremely enthusiastic and helpful, organising dinner at The Knolls restaurant one evening and a spa visit too. When we next bumped into them around the hotel they would enquire about how we'd enjoyed our spa visit / meal etc (without prompting or referring to any paperwork) - I thought that was really outstanding service.

The hotel grounds are immaculately kept, and they have some resident peacocks too, who we met a few times in the gardens (though we kept a distance!). We didn't use the main swimming pools, though they looked great and really inviting, as did the sun loungers around the pool areas.

We visited the Auriga Spa one day, and that in itself is a good reason to come to this hotel - really peaceful, relaxing and luxurious. The horizontal/vertical shower, and the thermal shower experience were amazing, not to mention our couples massage! We ate in The Knolls restaurant and were impressed with it too, especially with the prices - it's certainly not "fast food" prices, but was quite a bit less than we'd pay for a similar quality meal in Europe or North America.

If you do treat yourself to a stay here, don't plan on leaving the hotel to explore Sentosa or Singapore though, as you won't want to leave! (Incidentally the hotel cost includes complimentary entry to Sentosa Island; you usually need to pay to enter Sentosa from Singapore.) Overall this is a superb hotel, and is very highly recommended if you are in Singapore. It thoroughly deserves its official 5 star rating. We enjoy exploring new places and rarely visit the same hotel twice, but with Capella Singapore I'd make an exception.

Room Tip: One bedroom villas are well worth the cost - treat yourself!

“A Dream Place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

Check in was straight forward and very quick. We were then taken by buggy to our Villa. "It was stunning" The staff very friendly and the 4 Hours spent being pampered was bliss. I so hope to return in the near future.
