“Worth a visit if you're interested in WW2”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

I quite enjoyed my visit to Fort Siloso. It's an old military installation built to defend Singapore harbour, though ironically the guns had to be turned inland when the Japanese invaded from Malaya in WW2. The exhibition consists of various tunnel complexes, bunkers and gun installations with some mannequins and information about the history of the complex. As you'd expect from this kind of place it's at the top of a hill, and there's a (non-optional) trolley bus that takes you to the top and back down again once you've wandered around. You could spend at least 2 hours looking around here depending on your interest, so more likely to appeal to people staying on Sentosa Island rather than day-trippers from Singapore - it's a good exhibit, but if you only had one day on Sentosa there are probably other places you would rather see.

“Fantastic History Attraction”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

This was a great attraction. The tour guide on the WW2 replica bus was fantastic and very passionate about the story behind Fort Siloso.

Once at the top you walk through the history of the fort as it tells you about the many changes it has gone through.

In addition to the fascinating history there are spectacular views of Singapore.

It also has a large collection of big guns and cannons.

Its great value for money and a must for all.

“Great historical site”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

the fort, but not the beach, offers a great deal of history telling and many photo-taking opportunity. Ironically they are just a stone throw apart and a vast difference in colors.

“Great historical site”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Fort Siloso is one of the best historical site in Singapore. It has a biggest collection of British Army memorabillia, gun emplacements, bunkers, military tunnels. It chronicles the life of an imperial british soldier from the late 19th century to mid 20th century.

I like the fact that each section of the fort is color coded. This means it is has easy accessibility and self-guided foot tours for the adventurous side in you. There are a number of public toilets located across the fort and the tour map is easy to follow and well marked.

You can cover the entire fort in an hour but I recommend taking you take your time especially if you're interested in the history and lifestyle of a bygone era. One of the highlights of the fort is the the history of Singapore during the war years. It takes you from the events leading up to the war, the Battle for Malaya (and subsequently the Battle for Singapore), life under the Japanese occupation and finally, the Japanese surrender.

All in all, it was a great adventure and history lesson for young teenage boys who don't mind the walk and enjoy exploring the tunnels. Would recommend this to all.
