We were attracted to the Duck Tour in Singapoe because of the novelty of the vehicle that is used for the tour. The tour starts on land and then the vehicle splashes into the Singapore river for a short cruise. Unfotunately, the vehicle is very, very noisy, so it was a bit of a struggle to listen to the commentary, even with the volume turned up. In addition to this, our attempts to listen to the commentary was hampered by kids who had purchased the 'duck whistles' sold at the ticket counter and blew these continously. Perhaps these should have been sold after the tour.
The tour lasted about 55 minutes and this limits what you get to see. The tour includes a guide giving a commentary. You get an overall idea of Singapore and it's people (via the commentary), the significance of the downtown area that we were travelling in and the history of some of the buildings pointed out to us, and the role of the river and the buildings around the river. If you don't have a lot of time in Singapore, this gives a snippet of the nation. But if you have more time another tour would probably be more interesting.

It's fun being on the vehicle, travelling between land and see, and for the kids blowing away on the annoying duck whistles. I did one of these tours in 2005 and I remember it being a bit more interesting as we learned about the feng shui behind some of the buildings. This tour was more factual running us through the buildings on the inner harbour. It was okay but it is a tour you can miss without regretting it later.

We booked this tour on-line and took our tickets at Suntet City. When we arrived, we found the human tide before their frondesk was very chaotic, and the staff's direction and the target explanation were not clear. We must waited for a long time to took our tickets. They have no specific on-line tickets frondesk!! Eventhough, the tour is an amazing expernence!
We visited another Hippo Office at the Flyer and wished to ask some questions. But the staffs there were very cold and impolite!! They neglected our requests only because our questions were not related with the business of their company. An discomfort experience!!
We will never join the Hippo Tour again..

Good value for the hop on and off buses. Duck tour interesting. Both good way to get your bearings in a new city.
