right in the center, close to everywhere; single rooms may be small but who cares, all the amenities are there, clean, comfy bed, free internet, OK breakfast and VERY pleasant service; they even have a shuttle service to-from airport for 20 Euro...

Actually spent 7 nights in Tirana, 4 with friends at the Hotel Mondial then 3 alone at Hotel Nobel. This hotel is very basic but was an excellent fix for my needs. The location is outstanding, right at Skanderberg Square. It is clean, has free breakfast and internet. The staff speaks very good English. The rooms are small but if your not spending much time in the room this is an excellent place to stay.

If you are in Tirana and looking for somewhere on a budget, this place is fine. We stayed in the duplex apartment with a toddler, and while it could do with refurbishment the basics were there - except for the TV which was totally non-functional. WiFi was pretty fast and free. Beds could do with new matresses. Cleanliness was not perfect but acceptable. Watch the steps in the apartment if you have a small child, as they are not child-friendly at all. The owner and reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. Location is not bad, less than 10 minutes walk to the very center of town, and safe and cheap (2 euro per day) parking is just 100m from the front door (the owner will happily show you where it is). Breakfast was basic but ok. Again, don't expect luxury but if you don't want to spend a lot, this place gets the job done.

Hotel Nobel is in many ways Albania/Tirana in a nutshell: from the outside it looks like it will collapse any minute, but once you're in there, there's nothing really to complain. The hotel is tiny; rooms are located in the second floor of a dilapidated apartment block a few minutes' walk from Skanderbeg Square, i.e. the city centre. You get views over a huge generator and an equally huge empty space, which adds to the experience. Everything else though is good - the place is good value, staff is friendly, showers work, sheets are clean and nights are peaceful.
