“good location trumps all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

This is a nice facility. The rooms are clean and quiet. I had a little trouble with the thermostat - it doesn't appear to be possible to run the fan without adjusting the temperature. However, it was quiet so the white noise proved to be unnecessary. The night I was there, the restaurant was closed; the next morning, the offerings were limited to an overpriced continental breakfast. The staff was OK; friendly but not very efficient. I was unable to check out on the TV, and the morning clerk spent several unnecessary minutes prattling on about the fact that he was unable to print out a receipt.

If you're a walker, it's a nice walk down to the waterfront where there's a marina, restaurants, and lots to do. It's also convenient to the state capitol. Downtown Annapolis is beautiful.

Also, you don't need to use the hotel's valet parking. There's a City owned parking lot a half a block away and around the corner. You can park there 24 hours for $5. It's open all the time.

Dear Artisan 65,

Thank you for your review and comments. We will make sure the airconditioner in your room is addressed, thank you for making us aware of that.

We do our best to advise all guests of the alternative $5 parking in the public garage accross the street from us, I apologize if we did not make you aware of that.

I hope you will return to Annapolis and stay with us again.

“mix of great and mediocre”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

Loved the front desk service and assistance, rooms, and location...hallways and meeting rooms smell a bit musty, house wine at the pub is awful (beer on tap was great however), and breakfasts left much to be desired. Lemongrass restaurant across the street is fantastic--go early, they don't take reservations.

Thank you for your review and for taking the time to share you experiences. We have addressed the issue that was causing some odor in the hallways while the hotel was closed for the holidays.

Sorry to hear you are not a Wente Wine fan, if you are coming back we would be happy to get in an alternative wine for you, just let us know before you come. We love lemongrass too and next time you should check out their sister restaurant Metropolitan next door, it is a great Farm to Table menu with lots to chose from. You also get a free drink in either if you show your key card from the hotel!

Hope to see you back soon!

“Not Impressed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

The O'Callaghan is where you stay when the Westin and the Loews are full.

The bed was nicely firm and the linens and the room were clean.

At 4 in the morning I had a drunk banging on my door because he had the wrong room.

The buffet scrambled eggs at breakfast were cold; how hard is that to manage?

Dear George B,

I am very sorry to hear that you were disturbed during your stay with us, did you contact the front desk? We have a very strict noise policy as we appreciate that our guests are paying for a good night sleep. I hope that this was addressed quickly for you. We will certainly be sure to address the breafkast buffet issue.

Many thanks

“Fantastic service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

I live within 20 miles from the hotel but my sister and I were going to a class reunion at a nearby hotel and decided to stay in Annapolis so we would not have to drink and drive. We also wanted a mini getaway. Check in was the quickest hotel check in I have ever experienced before. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. We had dinner at John Berry's restaurant in the hotel and Joolz was the bartender and our waitress. She was fantastic and the food was delicious. After our event we returned for a nightcap and could tell that she was tired but was very friendly and funny. We enjoyed our conversation with her. The next morning we had room service for breakfast and it was fast, hot and tasted wonderful. Check out was quick and easy and we had a family emergency, explained that to the valet who brought the car around quickly. I was in such a hurry I forgot to tip him and I am so sorry for overlooking his great service. I told my husband about the hotel and we plan on returning this spring for a romantic weekend getaway. Thank you to all the staff of O'Callaghans. I will recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the beautiful city of Annapolis.

Room Tip: I stayed in a standard room and was very comfortable.
