“A very relaxing place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed at Sonalong in September 2011 and it was a great experience. My Joy picked us up from the airport for no extra cost and advised us of the best times to visit the temples. We arranged for him to drive us around the temples the next day. He would drop us off, tell us which way to walk and then come back for us. He also knows which temples to see at the different parts of the day to avoid the crowds.
The room or mini bungalow was fabulous; clean, relaxing and great air con. The swimming pool area was great too and the staff were very helpful. I even swam in the pool when it was raining outside! The food was basic but tasty. I think we experienced a taste of paradise without paradise prices.
It is about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Siem Reap, we walked int he rain, so it can be done but you will need a torch!

Room Tip: Any, they are all great!

“Excellent Stay Thanks Mr Hak”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Stayed at Sonalong over xmas for 7 days with my family wife and 3 teenagers. Booked Sonlong after reading other reviews and i had travelled to Siem Riep before so i knew the layout of the town. Sonlong is a quiet resort 10 mins walk from pub st i notice other people say that it is far out of town but a 10 min walk in the morning and evening is a good way to see the sites on the other side of the river as well ther is a lot of good eateries surrounding this area if you look most far better price and quality than pub st. Sonalong is run by Mr Hak who excells in all areas of hospitalty nothing is too much effort for him to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable he can arrange any of your requests,i contacted him before leaving australia with my travel needs and he sourced all travel requirements, transport and guides while we were there and none of his prices were inflated . The rooms are spotless as well as the grounds and swimming pool area which was ideal after a day at the temples. i have stayed in far more expensive hotels than this but they fail to match the level of service from Mr Hak and his staff.
Would definately stay again and reccommend highly Thank you Mr Hak from Mr Bruce

“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

This is a clean place with very good accommodation in tranquil settings. It is a bit out of the way and requires a Tuk Tuk whenever you want to go to or from town. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Basic breakfast only.

“Pretty good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We just spent a week at the Sonalong and rather enjoyed it. The staff is nothing short of wonderful in every respect. The hotel itself is pretty darn good all around. Hot water for showers, cold air for sleeping, great little balcony with chairs, good little mini bar frige. Pool is great, a bit cool which is really wonderful, especially in the afternoon. The pool is also SPOTLESS and gets thouroughly scrubbed daily. Prices are good, breakfast is satisfactory. The street they are on is quite ragged right now but no big deal. Short $2.00 tuk tuk ride to Pub St. or walk, it's not that far. The grounds here, small as they are, are absolutely beautiful, you would think you were in the jungle. The trees and shrubs mostly have a little sign identifying them, nice touch. The only couple of minor issues we had were the bed is quite hard and the towels are due to be replaced with new. Other than that...quite nice. Would probably stay there there again.

Room Tip: Floors are tile so if you are up to it, get a room upstairs as it will absolutely be quieter.

“A comfortable 3star Hotel not far from center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We stayed for 5 nights in this hotel. It has large comfortable rooms. Even with an extra bed for our 8yr old daughter, we felt we had enough space. The bathroom was basic (sink, toilet, shower) but clean. The rooms all have a balcony which is a huge asset when travelling with children ;-). It is not located in the (busy) center around the old market and pub street, but more in a tranquil area just outside the city center. Not all tuktuk drivers knew the place, but the hotel will provide you with their businesscard on which a small map is printed. Some tuktuk drivers will try to charge you an extra dollar to get to the hotel, but if you just smile and say "no, its 2$" they smile back and will drive you. It IS a bumpy ride !! :-) The pool is clean and has nice sunbeds, towels at the pool are provided. The only thing they really could improve (in our opinion) is the breakfast. It consist basically out of coffee or tea, orange juice or pineapple juice, eggs or toast with butter/jam. After 5 mornings we would have loved some variation in that theme. But apart from the monotonous breakfast this is a nice hotel in a nice and quiet location.

Room Tip: All bungalows have one room on ground level, and one room on upper level.
