“Perfect hotel, fantastic staff, good location”

I spend three nights here from 8 until 11th of January and had a great stay. The staff is fantastic and I really enjoyed the roof top terrace. The staff is fantastic, super friendly and very open. I even took a picture of the staff, but unfortunately they got erased from my iphone. I can recommend it to everybody and will definitely stay here the next time I am around

“A great place to stay with escellent staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We stayed in Hotel 89 for the 3 nights we were in Siem Reap, it was the first stop on a 4 month trip and we could not have chosen a better place. It was our first time in Asia and we were backpacking on a budget, the staff were so helpful in orienting us and pointing out where everything is in Siem Reap. They also booked our onward coach at no extra cost. The hotel has its own tuk-tuk drivers so if you want to head out or hire a tuk- tuk for the day to take you round the temples then just talk to the reception, there is no difference in cost from getting one on the street and you wont get ripped off as you pay the hotel direct. The only question mark would be the sausages at breakfast and the speed of the internet (which I wouldn't expect to be amazing anyway), and that's me being very picky. Our room was cleaned every day and we were left a very sweet bedtime story (Cambodian fable) every night. If we ever head back to Siem Reap we will head straight for Hotel 89 without hesitation. Brilliant place.

“Excellent place to stay”

Hotel 89 is an incredible value for clean and spacious rooms in Siem Reap. It's a quiet hotel that is just a quick walk to Pub Street for restaurants and shopping.

The staff is very nice and helpful in making your visit to Siem Reap and Angkor smooth and pleasant.

I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Siem Reap. Highly recommended for the price and location.

“Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Tucked away in a small lane away (though not too far away) from the main market place and pub street is the delightful Hotel 89 (or Wooden Angkor Hotel). Right from leaving your footwear at reception and walking barefoot through the hotel to the humble, ever-smiling staff, the hotel was truly Cambodian in nature and ambience. The hotel is a short walk from Pub street (around 10 mins) and has clean well appointed rooms (though they could do with safes within the room and not at the reception). Breakfast is a set menu with limited options and does not offer you the luxury of a buffet - but for around USD 23 a night for a room, I'm not complaining. The staff were extremely helpful and accomodating. All in all, a good place to stay for the budget traveler. The Hotel should consider including a free airport shuttle offered by most Cambodian hotels in the room rate.

Room Tip: Choose rooms on a higher floor if available.

“Excellent and value-for-money lodgings!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

My friends and I stayed here for 5 nights. The (small) hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood, sleep was uneventful throughout. They don't actually have triple rooms, but they gave us an additional twin room at no extra cost. Rooms were spacious and clean. Free bottles of mineral water and fruit platter daily. There were no bedtime stories for some reason (a tad disappointed there), but they did give us an Angkor Wat magnet as a parting gift. A delightful breakfast is included in the price, and served in a lovely rooftop dining area. Breakfast involves three courses, so allow plenty of time to enjoy the meal. Extremely friendly and polite staff who greet you every time you see them. Moreover, they are never pushy in trying to get you to book tours. However, I do recommend hiring tuk-tuk drivers through them. The two drivers that we had, Sokom and 'Rooney', were extremely safe drivers and very jovial. Will definitely choose Hotel 89 should I pass by Siem Reap again. Highly recommended!
