“A Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2012

We stayed 3 nights at this beautiful hotel with an organised trip, 90 of us arrived together but they had it all sorted and our bags were taken to our rooms while we were having dinner, they made us feel as though we were the only ones checking in. The rooms are lovely and very clean the bed was very comfortable with nice bedding. The food was wonderful served by excellant staff nothing was to much trouble always friendly with big smiles on their faces out of 6 hotels we stayed at during our trip this was far superior - just wonderful, I hope one day we will return it is a very special place.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2012

I believe that all Sofitels are of extremely high standard, and this is no exception. When I arrived, I was offered a cold towel and a welcome drink. I was given a brief tour of the hotel, and found the hotel to be quite nice. The bellboy then showed me to my room, and explained everything, including the L'Occitane soaps and gels. There were two tv's,which I found quite surprising. A staff personnel then offered us a handful of macaroons, and they were the best I've ever tasted. He also showed me the 'pillow menu', which was a little bit ironic. The staff left, and I enjoyed the view for a little while. I then hopped into the pool, and noticed it was of a very unique shape. The next thing I knew, it was already getting dark! I've been here 5 hours, but it seems like 5 minutes! The Sofitel is truly excellent...

Room Tip: Every one is good!

“unbelievable service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

We stayed at this fantastic resort for 4 nights in a pool view room. We had the best experience of any hotel that we have stayed at any where in the world. we travel 5 weeks of the year and this was our second time at a sofitel hotel. I have to say that the service we encountered was by far the best we have had anywhere in the world. The Manager of the resort continually went out of his way to ensure we were having no problems. It was our wedding anniversary and they presented us with a cake with candles, and also some amazing fruit. The room was upgraded without us even asking! The room was so clean and fresh we didn,t want to leave. The pool was incredible. The water was so clear and warm you could stay in it all day. The serpent pool bar attendants were always smiling and eager to help with anything. The food...what can I say!!! Just the best!! The concierge called us by our first names and had cars, tuk tuks and anything else we wanted organised very promptly. The position of the hotel was close to everything that Siem Reap has to offer. Again I have to say if there is such a thing as a perfect resort, then the Sofitel at Siem Reap is it!

“Peaceful friendly hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

Had the pleasure of staying here for 5 nights in a standard room overlooking the lake. The setting is wonderful. The lake rooms are more peaceful but if you are going to be heavy user of the swimming pool then the rooms overlooking this may be more for you. The pool is really lovely with a swim up bar, a children's pool and a jacuzzi all set in pretty grounds. The staff were delightful. The bedrooms have lovely wooden floors with a slightly colonial feel, good air conditioning and a ceiling fan. They are not super special but perfectly fine. All have balconies or terraces. The breakfasts had a wide choice and the food was good. One thing to be aware of is that this hotel has big conference facilities. These are not in anyway intrusive, but of course if you are there for a romantic week and there are 150 doctors/academics/businessmen using the poolside for evening events and all in for breakfast at the same time this might be a consideration. On the other hand, if you are a conference organiser this would definitely;y be a place to consider. Tuk tuks to central Siem Reap are easy to get and cost hardly anything. Angkor Wat is 4km away, the airport only 15 minutes. The hotel can organise trips to places further afield. I would definitely go back.
