“Outstanding customer care , problematic location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

If you are looking for an hotel close to Xiamen attractions, then the Jingming is not your first choice : 30 minutes by bus to the "city center" and not that faster by taxi. If you travel in family with young children, consider hotels closer to the main street and ferry boat harbour. The bar is also surprisingly expensive and not of a good quality . On the other hand, hotel's staff is amazingly efficient . Shuttle bus to and from the airport, check in for your flight , courtesy to name few qualities . Swimming pool and gym facilities are also available and pretty deserted .Breakfast is also generous and various . In general Xiamen does not worth more than 2/3 days . Gulangyu is definitely a must, especially at nightfall . Spend a visit at Nuampu temple . The Tulou attraction does not worth the trip alone ; 2,5 hours by bus from Xiamen . Not that much to see and learn . The villages around offer a really poor interest . Xiamen is not a shopping spot either. You'll find much more better bargain in HK or SH.

“Well worth a stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

Excellent hotel and facilities set in a busy part of the city. easy access to beaches, shops, restaurants and KTV's. Good local food available where the 'natives' eat. would recommend the sea food. Hotel is 5 star with all the trimmings, if this was London or NYC you would be looking at £500 per night, Xiamen rates are nearer £50.

Room Tip: The higher up the better!

“Superb Service – could really feel their sincerity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

The hotel may not have spanking new facilities or the grandeur of other more famous 5-star hotels, but the service and complete facilities of this hotel are more than enough to make your stay a good one.

Upon arrival at airport, I was greeted by the staff to fetch me to the hotel. Due to private cars and buses are not allowed to wait at the airport door, we had to walk a short distance out across the main road to get to the hotel shuttle bus. The lady staff who offered to pull my luggage all the way was really polite and friendly even though we were walking under the hot sun.

From the staff to the room, the service and settings has that welcoming touch. There are personalized place cards which you can use to show to taxi drivers the popular places to go or hotel address etc, which makes your stay in Xiamen much easier even if you don’t speak chinese. The room service menu has varieties that includes sushi and malay halal food. There are English and Japanese translations everywhere too (seems like lots of Japanese occupants here).

Other than that, free wifi and local calls are offered. There is an express checkout service whereby you can just dial ‘0’ from your room 1 day before departure, then settle the bill either in your room or front desk in advance. Then when check out just leave the key in the room or return to front desk after informing them. There's even a shoe polishing machine near the lifts.

In terms of location there are lots of local shops and eateries nearby. There is an ‘E-Best’ supermarket across the hotel that allows you to charge to your hotel room. Meanwhile in the mornings I find it much easier and faster to catch a taxi here compared to when I was staying at Pan Pacific Xiamen (the staffs helped me hail them, because in mornings it’s almost impossible to call taxi in this city).

My most memorable moment in this hotel was a surprise birthday cake which really made my day. Because of an early flight, I had to checkout early and miss the breakfast. They were so nice to pack a bag of sumptuous breakfast for me. I really love the staffs and service here and will not hesitate to come back!

“Great Service but the hotel needs to update its deco”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

This hotel is all about service and although there were some hic ups when we were checking in with the mix up of connecting rooms and neighboring rooms but it was quickly and efficiently corrected by Ms. Fitima Dacosta the manager. Ms. Dacosta was very helpful and we appreciate her effort. Also when we were checking out, there were also a bit of a hic up from the charmland foot massage place on the third floor but then it was also quickly diffused by Miss Monika Liu. Service wise, I can’t really complain but the hotel decoration reminds a bit out dated and the fake lotus pool where they put the piano is not appealing at all. The stagnate water inside the pool also give the whole lobby a funny wet mildew spell. The lobby is actually very clean but the wetness from the fake lotus pool spoils everything.

Location wise is O.K. free pick up and drop off to & from the airport, free internet and free breakfast. With these extra benefits and the reasonable price, my family would definitely come back for sure.

Room Tip: If you want a connecting room because of younger children then you better write to them a week ahead...
