This hotel has a great location; right on the water front at the end of the pedestrian shopping street. Our guide advises that it has been recently renovated and it looks and feels new. Our room is big with a writing desk complete with a laptop provided with free internet access. It has a two-seater lounge, king size comfortable bed, TV, fridge, wardrobe and tea/coffee making facilities. The flooring is bare boards with a large rug, which suits the climate and the room has excellent air conditioning. The room is tastefully decorated in a Chinese/European style and has nice lighting.

The bathroom is beautiful with marble tiles and bench tops. The shower is rather unique and would only suit couples rather than families as it has glass on two sides; the glass door into the bathroom itself and a glass window into the bedroom and with a view out the large windows across the water to Gulang Yu. It made showering a whole different experience as you could sit on the marble seat in the shower and look out to the nice views and the shower head made for a lovely rainfall effect. Although, I cannot imagine this type of bathroom would be practical for families with teenagers.

The only down side to the room we had was it was on the floor directly below the restaurant on the top level. Lieing in bed you could hear every chair as it was moved in and out from a dining table. Having said that, I would still certainly recommend this hotel as it is modern, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Those rooms that have a view is also a nice plus.

After some bad experiences in so-called 4 star hotels in Fujian province we stayed the last night at Lujiang Harbourview Hotel and it was the only one which met our expectations: had a reasonable priced (in comparison to all the others) suite overlooking Gulanyu, spacious and clean, good service, very good breakfast (in fact the only one out of 5 hotels serving western breakfast, fresh fruits, very good espresso). Convenient to the old city center of Xiamen and to the ferry terminal.

The purpose of my trip to Xiamen was the wedding of Chinese friends. They reserved my hotel on Gulanyu island, Flora inn hotel, which I posted on.
We spent 2 diners and 1 lunch in the Lujiang restaurant, which is also a hotel. The restaurant on top floor terrace has a magnificient view on the gulanyu island.
The food is Chinese of a great quality. The staff is very efficient. You need to reserve in advance, specially for the night, because it is of a good success in Xiamen. Better if you can be with Chinese guest, as menu is in Chinese.
But staff know a little bit of English, and if you are not sure of your choice, they can advice specialty of the place.
Good location next to pedestrians streets, and next to the ferry.
For lunch, they have a restaurant on the 1st floor, with set menu and buffet for starting and desert. Price is correct around 15 euros including a soft drink.

Very disappointed with the Lujiang Hotel we saw at our previous stay. We had stayed here years before when they didn't have their renovation yet and frankly, it was better before. They offered us two kinds of rooms, a more expensive "harbor view" and a cheaper " city view" room. Being that it was late already, we decided to go with the "city room". We were very disappointed when we saw the room. It didn't even deserve to get the name city view, as the view only consisted of a green mesh thing covering the window ( apparently, there was a construction project beside our room). I am not even sure if our room actually had an outlet to the outside from the window.

The room itself was very small, it only fit one double bed with two nightstands beside it. They didn't even have a separate long table for laptops. The bathroom was very basic, with no bathtub. There was free wifi in the room, but using it on my iPhone, it kept prompting me to re login when the screen goes dark. The breakfast was so-so. Some items were not refilled again after they were finished, even though the breakfast was still on for another hour.

When trying to exchange money at the front desk, they told us they were only able to change $200 worth of RMB's and all in loose change, because the hotel didn't have enough cash. What kind of "4 star hotel" doesn't even have $200 bucks to change?

We came from Wyndham Xiamen before staying here, and as a result, our standards were pretty high. The ONLY good thing about this hotel was its closer location in relation to Zhongshan Road, the main shopping street. Very very disappointed overall. Even if they had a good harbor view room, their city view room shouldn't be that substandard in comparison. Will never stay here again.
