The hotel is new and very close Garden City mall where you have a good chinese restaurant, a Decathlon and more shops.
The apartment we lived in (2 bedroom and one living room) was perfect, very nicely decorated, had good view on the city. It had all equipment needed for long or short stay.
The roof swimming pool nearby the gym has also fantastic views. Breakfast is simple and good.
Overall the place is a very good alternative to stay in Shekou at reasonable price, I recommend it.

Great place to stay as it is in the Nanshan business district. Very new and clean room with modern furnishing (stayed in a studio). Staff can speak basic English, enough to get by. They are helpful and try to help you.
Subway is directly opposite the hotel with a convinient shop below the hotel. Short walk to Walmart, making it very convinient.
There is a massage place opposite the hotel. You get a discount if you inform them that you are staying in Somerset Garden City Shenzhen.
However, be warned that it is far from other attractions except Seaworld. Getting a cab can be a challange even with the concierge's help.
Hotel staff was very helpful in teaching on how to take a bus to Window of the World as it links to the Metro and is very obvious landmark (bus ride cost for RMB2)!

I usually stay here on business for a few days every 2 months. Relatively new serviced apartments / hotel for a good price. I usually stay in 1 bedroom studio deluxe, but if not available they can work a deal for a 2 bedroom at a discount. Large flat screen TV, DVD, Ipod dock, nice kitchenette with modern simple look, outside balcony and washer dryer combo not that great but not a big deal. Bathrooms are set up very clean and neat. In room Wifi not so fast but wired connection available as well. Gym is very clean with new equipment, nice rooftop pool and picnic area to relax. This is one of my favorite places to stay in Shenzhen. 10 minute taxi to ferry (have the concierge get one early, hard to find at rush hour). 15 minute walk to Sea world square and plenty of entertainment. The restaurant offers very good food choice. The front desk and concierge is always helpful with any request and translations for taxi to places. There is a 24 hour convenience store just outside the hotel and Garden city mall just a 5 minute walk down the street with shops and restaurants. Ascott also has a sister hotel close to Seaworld called the Maillen Place which is a bit more expensive but new and nice as well. Somerset has every thing I need...

The rooms are very new - lots of windows and has a balcony, which can be used. Very clean, new and fresh towels, many english speaking channels on tv, has a kitchen. It is very roomy and cozy - this is where I always stay when I go to Shenzhen.
The cons don't bother me
No restaurant, but there is a great cafe in front of the hotel - bear's cafe. The location is not a prime, about 30 min to the airport (80 RMB) and 30 min to Luohu Trainstation / HK border (70 RMB) - which for me is not a problem, since taxis in china are so cheap.
